WICHITA, Kan. – The Friends University Falcons fell by scores of 6-0 to the Baker University Wildcats and then 5-3 to the Doane College Tigers today (Feb. 29) at the Two Rivers Youth Complex in Wichita.

The Wildcats got a complete game shutout from Makayla Akin in the opening game today. Akin struck out five and walked three with five hits allowed.

Hannah Flynn capped a four-run third inning with a three-run homer for the Wildcats and Riley Swickard finished the scoring with a two-run blast in the seventh.

Kat Davis (SO/Keller, Texas) had two hits for the Falcons vs. Baker and Hali Walters (JR/Longmont, Colo.) struck out two while allowing five earned runs over six innings in the circle. Ashlyn Jacobs (JR/Valley Center, Kan. ) then pitched a scoreless inning of relief for the Falcons.

In the Falcons' second game of the day, Doane jumped on top with a two-run single by Kailyn Wiseman in the third.

It stayed that way until Laila Spracklen (FR/San Diego, Calif. ) singled to lead off the fifth and scored on Carolyn Dallimore (FR/Patterson, Calif. )'s first career homer, a two-run blast that tied the score.

But the Tigers got the two runs back on a two-run single by Erika Herrera in the sixth before another RBI single by Wiseman made it a three-run game.

The Falcons threatened in the bottom of the seventh as Makenna Mitchell (FR/Orange County, Calif. ) hit a pinch-hit, RBI single in the bottom of the seventh that chased home pinch runner Tatum Haney (FR/Derby, Kan. ) to trim the deficit to two runs. But Josie Schnakenberg got a strikeout to finish the win for the Tigers.

Friends starter Michelle Kroell (FR/Clovis, Calif. ) tossed a quality start, striking out a career-high six batters while walking four and giving up three earned runs. Jacobs came on and pitched another scoreless frame for the Falcons.

Davis had two more hits for the Falcons (2-10) to raise her batting average to .447, with Renee Downey (SR/Modesto, Calif.) also recording a pair of hits.

Schnakenberg struck out 11 and gave up three runs over seven innings for the Tigers (5-9).

The Falcons will now turn around and host Hastings College tomorrow (Mar. 1) for two games starting at noon.
