VIDEO: Softball walks off with win over UMW

The Salisbury University softball team picked up another walk-off win in the first game of its doubleheader against the University of Mary Washington Saturday at Sea Gull Softball Stadium. Starting pitcher Shannon Powell picked up her fifth win of the season in the game, going the distance while allowing six hits and striking out a career-high-tying six batters. Sami Mumford was 3-for-3 in the game, as she has batted .500 in her last 10 games played. Heading to the bottom of the seventh tied at 3-3, the Sea Gulls got the walk-off win when Madeira Alexander grounded out to the shortstop, but it brought home LeAnne Collins for the game winner. The Sea Gulls are back in action on Wednesday, April 4 heading to No. 7 Christopher Newport University for Salisbury’s first road games of the season.
