I would like to know what was the funnest tournaments of the year for coaches, players and parents? I would like to find something positive to read and maybe check out the tourny next year.

SGS Shootout in Toledo was by far the best tournament we were at this summer. Nice facilities, MVP awards for pool games, 6 game minimum, A & B divisions, reasonably priced souveners. It was an out of town for us & the girls had a blast at the hotel. (Sleep Inn on I-280)

Uncle Stan's for me was the most fun this year. Alot of good teams, good umps and the most important of items, great concessions.

The schedule was also decent the girls had plenty of hotel /mall/pool time.

What about the funnest tournament for umpires? :)

Without a doubt, it was the men's fastpitch tournament (The Capitol City Classic) I worked this past weekend. Perfect weather, nice fields (close to home, too!) and amazing competition. And I got to do the plate for the championship game!

Please don't take this the wrong way, as I love girl's fastpitch and 90% of the softball games I call fall in that category. But after watching a few games at this level, the women's game at any level will look like it's moving in slow motion.

For me, working these games is a rare treat. Next weekend it's back to the 12U girls...not that there's anything wrong with that!

Thanks, it sounds like some good times. I think Toledo is a definite for us next year so I am looking forward to it. I want to do a tourney in North East Ohio too, does anyone have any suggestions?

Yes Bretman Umpires count as does any person that wants to reply and bring something positive to the topic.

Did anyone go to compuware or out of state tournys that they like in particular?

Thanks again to everyone that replied I am taking notes.

As a parent, I enjoyed the Toledo 9th Annual Independence Classic ASA June 22-24.

It was nice to get away from the local tourneys and we made it fun for the girls... some did putt-putt golf, some shopped at mall, all rode go-karts (they even got out extra go-karts just so our girls/coaches/parents could all be on the track at once and race against each other!). The fields were very nice with actual bathrooms. We played at two different ones, no complaints at all about either one. There was a gate fee, but they did allow coolers. The hotel could have been a little nicer, but I choose it for the group so what can I say ::) It looked nicer on paper than what it was when we got there, but we were practically next door to Red Lobster and Frickers and Olive Garden. ;)

I agree with the comments about Toledo. The girls liked the umpires as they would talk to them and make sure everything was ok. Everthing was posted and you knew where you played and when you played.

;) I have to say that so far every tournament we have played in this year has been great! I credit great coaches, parents and the girls on this team, GFOD Thunder - Huggins 16U. What a special group, there are no "attitudes" on this team and every girl is a blessing.... and to come away from each tournament with a great attitude and some bling!!!!!

Way to go THUNDER....keep up the great work!!

I would like to mention the Pony National's in Warren, Ohio. The Thunder Elite has stepped in to present a fine tournament. The facilities in Boardman and Canfield are first rate.

we have played alot of tournaments this year, but I must commend the umpires at 10U level at the Jami Snyder Memorial this past weekend! Not only did they do an excellent job, but they also donate part of their earnings because it is a memorial tournament!

:) :) :)

Good times this year.....Before going to Loudonville I told my team there was a chance I would not be coaching again for a couple of years. ?They responded by scoring 51 runs and giving up only 4 for the weekend going 7-0. ?Before the championship game I confirmed that it would be my last game, they played with alot of emotion beating a strong Top Guns team. ?

I have had the oppertunity to be a part of some very good teams with the Ohio Hustle and Ohio Pride, with pitchers like McNiel, Rubright, Myers,Browne, Joseph,Cottrell and Solanics. ?Players like Frankie and Jess Gironda that have been with me since they were 9 & 10 years old. ?

Winning the championship of your last tournament is pricless!!....Good times this year
