Just curious for some opinions, obviously last year was really really strong , at least at the top . I think all the way , from top to bottom but thats IMO. The Slammers, Valley Ext Red , and Lasers were all very good, and proved it nationally. Will this year have those type of teams together? I have very little knowledge of what goes on up in Akron/canton/cleveland , thats 4 hours away from home and don't see them at all.

I have one team in mind that will be strong , but I don't know how high they will reach. MD

hey, MD, i thought you felt the competition wasn't up to your high standards? (where are those old posts, somewhere around here amid all this rubble...) haha, just joshin ya! ;)

to answer the prompt, who knows? I'm in 14u land now, but can i start the campaign for my top 2? lasers silver and classics, but they are first year 12's and traditionally, second year 12's do much better...my other bet would be on returning 12u teams...weren't the doom pretty darn good down south in cincy area? (they produce those girls out of a lab somewhere, I'm convinced!)

If I ever voiced any such silliness I need beaten like a spider monkey, as they say on Ricky Bobby ! I know you meant that in jest but theres a little truth in every jab . OUCH ! I hate to here that I ever come across that way .
I have no clue how our bunch will be , so no high lofty predictions from me. We have a good pitcher back, but she was only our 2-3 rd best thrower last year. The other pitcher was a very good 10u. I can only hope she repeats that type of sucess at 12u. We have 5 or 6 new girls , including 1 10 yr old and 2-3 that have not played travel. So who knows . I just know I can't wait ! I love it. MD

The Doom 12U this year should be very good. I am assuming that they are returning many of the same players. They played a good schedule last year and paid thier dues.

Its always hard to tell what good 10U teams will do at the 12U level when they get there.

M.D, I am the oppisite of you, stuck up North. From what I see so far up here I'll make a few predictions, Valley Extreme, Ohio Ice, Pittsburgh Furies, Pittsburgh Road Runners, Lazers all will have very good seasons. We have played most and they all have very good teams.

Correct - Ohio Wave

Doom will be very very good this year. Another team that will contend with anyone is the 12 Ohio Stingrays.

Look for these two teams to compete alot on Sundays for it all.

The Doom girls are all back. They played nearly all the top 12u teams very tough as 11's and now they are going to collect alot of hardware this year. They paid some dues and will be late leaving on sundays this year for sure. Very strong on D. MD

Doom has 4-5 new faces as not all of the girls came back a new coach but will pick right up where they left off.

In the fall the Stingrays beat the classics and faced the doom in the championship and lost by 1 or 2. Game could have gone either way but the doom center fielder made an awesome catch to win game . If she doesn't make that catch the stingrays win.

In that Classics championship game the Doom won without Emily, (injured) ?she will certainly be one of the top 2 or 3 pitchers in the state, and Lindsey the girl who pitched for the Doom is also in that top group. And I am not on the doom team. ?THIS IS GOOD TEAM!

PS StatRay, that is the Laser Gold team that is first year the silver moved on to 13u.

I did'nt mean 100% back , I should have been more clear, they do have a couple new faces . Good group of kids. MD

If that was w/o Emily then it's very very impressive they won that weekend. She is the real deal in the circle . Not much free from her, good control . I would expect her to be really high on the list of best pitchers. MD

Cinci static (black I think) is'nt going to be any picnic for anyone also. quite a few 11's but these kids know the game. Several experienced girls even though they are mainly 11's. We saw them in milford in the fall when they had only practiced together a few times. But up a good fight against the Doom with Emily . Don't let them sneak under the radar ;) MD

Good point Dan, The Static 12u is a very good team and one that will make a lot of noise this year.

thanks bold! I've heard lot's of rumblings and what not, but you can never tell what color the next model of laser showcar that comes down the pipe...I can invision them on some imaginary playground doing military style drills and hanging out with mcnamee! ;) ;)

okay manitou, you officially joined the jabbed-by-statman fan club...your dues get you paid admission to the ringer for president Ohio primary in march

Thank you statman. I'll add MD to the VIP list. However, I think I am going to have to file a complaint with the Elections Comission. Seems "FPR - Fast Pitch Radio" refuses to give me equal airtime with BigTrain and JoeA. They won't even return my calls. I can't figure it out. :-?

it's a conspiracy! i think ricky knows if you get on, statman is next and next thing you know, it's the statman and ringer show (notice you are second-billed, btw)
with the writer's strike going on, we could create a new phenomenon!
oh well, guess we'll have to stick to posting :p

maybe (y)our rants need to involve cutesy pics like Joe's or slightly aristocratic rants like trains to get mentioned for interviewee of the month!

i know getting back to topic is considered a statman sin, but here goes...

i was thinking about this question again and does up/down of 12u ball focusing on individual teams, like the doom we have mentioned earlier, a team that is returning starters and proven winners? or does this a wide-range topic, meaning 12u in the state of ohio....maybe someone with a greater knowledge of top 5/10 finishes for NSA/ASA other affiliation tourneys nationwide would know for sure...
i mean, weren't the slammers the only team to go to ASA nationals (burn me if I'm wrong!)? so, with them moving up, I would have to say the state of 12u ball is going down, until some other team can duplicate that kind of success...

so, anyone with greater knowledge of the national/state tourneys can drop some info....i know there were a litany of national tourneys that different 12u teams attended, so how many ohio teams did well?

12U Lasers Silver went with Slammers to Cali and 10U Lasers Gold (now 11U) went to Alabama. Both the Slammers and Lasers Gold were touted last year as maybe the best ever in Ohio. 10U went 65-0? and Slammers, well they were OK i guess ;). Both had good runs in the uber-class ASA "A" but Slammers finished 5th and Lasers Gold finished 13th or maybe 9th, I can't remember. It just makes you wonder how far is Ohio really behind when we send our best of the best and finish where they did. This IS NOT a slam against the Slammers or the Lasers (oh, bad pun) but rather a ponder of where Ohio really stacks up, BUT, this is probably for another thread.

so, 3 out of how many 12u teams? hmmmmm
so, manny, what say you? is this thread a vieled 12u-is-watered-down thread, or 12u across the state/nation is down?

thanks for clearing that up...this year I'll be sure to keep a jot-book down for those national tourneys to keep my eye on who is doing well from ohio...instead of just beating up everyone else in ohio, like tressel's team...haha

:p

better yet, how are we to gauge ohio's best?....compuware? any win against the pittsburg's? sending any WV team home in a doggy bag? tarring and feathering the michigan finesses of the world? I'm only a statman, so who am i to know! ;D
