Sept. 11

Not really having anything to do with softball---just can't help it this time of year.........

Anybody else been thinking about where they were and what they were doing when the planes crashed?

I was sure that was the day the world was coming to an end. :'(

I would never have believed how much things have returned to "normal" since then.

Yes, I've been thinking about it alot today. I can't believe it has been six years. I remember wanting so bad to go to the schools and pick up my children but they didn't want a mad rush at the schools so they were asking parents to leave them in school. I had a kindergartener and a second grader. It was quite hard to leave them there.

I still find myself with tears in my eyes on Sept 11 and I find myself saying a little prayer for all of the families that were directly affected.

Scary Part was I got on a plane right after the first tower was hit out of Columbus to Chicago and was diverted to Ft. Wayne and rented a car home. Everything was done by the time we landed and it was an erie day driving and listening to the radio.

Have flown almost every 9/11 since then and tomorrow won't be any different as Denver bound in the AM.

can't worry about things you can't control and take time to thank those in uniform who help control it....

Please do not ever forget that day..... In my wifes office they are wearing red white and blue and believe it or not someone asked why those colors on Sept 11th?????

I remember seeing the very beginning with the 2 planes in NY,watching it on the tube, and having to leave for my wife`s grandfathers funeral viewing in Brunswick. We remember seeing the 4th plane fly over top of us on route 303 (Brunswick) then with two fighter planes fly over a few minutes later going toward that plane. That 4th plane was the one that went down in Pennsylvania that day. When we found that out it really sent chills down our spines.

It was hard to explain to our (at the time) 5 year old what happened and what it was all about. My boss lost three family members in tower one that day. He told us that when he saw the building come down,he knew he lost them. At the time there was still hope that they were alive til they came down. To this day its hard to believe they did come down like that!

I feel so bad for the families that lost members that day in the planes, buildings, and all the firemen and police officers that parished that day.
I wasnt alive when JFK was killed in Dallas, but just like they said back then, you will always remember where you were when this day happened!

I was at work and heard it on the radio. ?I couldn't believe my ears. ?I too, wanted to rush and get my children out of fear that they were in danger. ?Nobody knew if there would be more attacks and if so,...where? ?We need to pay tribute to people who died in that attack and honor the soldiers who still fight in its wake, today.

It was my day off, and I was at home taking care of my 5 yr old who had just had his tonsils out (older brother and sister at the local elementary). ? ?I was doing dishes and my mom phoned---"Sue, are you watching tv?".

As I watched, I remember looking out the window and thinking "So this is how it ends. ?On a beautiful, cool, sunny morning in the fall." I was surprized at how calm I felt---no panic, just a kind of detached acceptance (probably a little shock).

Like every other mom, my first thought was to gather my children to me, so I called the school and (of course) was asked not to come get them. ?Second thought was---Do I pack the car to get ready to evacuate somewhere, or do I prepare to hunker down at home? ?In the end, I did neither (if there was going to be a nuclear war, as I expected, what was the point?) ?

Never felt so helpless in my life. :'( ?

I was off work and recently had back surgery.. i remember sitting frozen watching it happen on tv. i called husband and told him, i called work and told everyone. i wanted to go to school to pick the kids up, i couldn't drive yet so i just sat frozen to the TV.
My prayers are with any one who was effected personally and to the young men and women watching guard and fighting so this doesn't happen again.

I was going to work and none of us could concentrate on work. We turn the radio and TV on praying nothing else would happen. No one should ever forget that day. Prayers and thoughts go out to victims.

It was one of the most shocking things I have ever watched.  Thoughts and prayers should go out to all of the victims from that day. We shouldn't forget all of the volunteers that helped search for the victims in the days after too. Thoughts and prayers to them! And last but not least, to our service men and women over seas, and here at home, that protect this great nation we have. They allow us to wake up everyday feeling safe and free. GOD BLESS ALL OF THE ABOVE MENTIONED PEOPLE!

Good time to review current threats to our Homeland. Since most on this site have school aged kids or are school aged kids, I thought I would pass this along. Most have probably heard of this, but just like 9-11 people think it wont happen here.

Everyone should check out the above website. In honor of those who died on Sept 11, we need to be prepared and vigilant so that something like it does not happen again.
