Then at 5:20, you call our coach and tell him we are playing at 7:15PM, mind you, after we sent kids home, called kids and told them we werent playing. ?What is there suggestion, can you play at midnight!!!, you have to be joking.

We were told our first game would be at 10 pm Saturday after all of the rain delays. ?Our coach got a call at 4 pm Saturday that we were to be ready to play at 5 pm! ? ?Our team was scattered, but we got everyone to Tealtown in uniform by 4:40. (a couple girls were across the river in Kentucky when we found out) ?

Worst run tournament ever!!!! 3 womens pots, no porta johns, no food prepared, No organization what so ever. AT 2:00 on sunday there was 13 diamonds open, yet the nsa couldn't let the games be decided on the field. Teams getting beat when the score was 0 to 0. All players coaches and parents were all state champions this weakend. nsa run ruled!!!!!!!!!!!!

We were at the gapss this weekend and the field crew was great. On the way to the fields we passed farm land that was under water and yet the crew got the fields ready for these girls to play. I was talking to some of the field crew about all of there hard work and they said they do it for the orange shirts. ;D lol They were great, umps on the other hand were a different story. I heard one was let go before because of his poor performance but they let him back in. What a mistake that was. :'(

A little communication would go a long way a Tealtown. Having teenagers at the check in desk not willing to help out or wanting to answer question is unacceptable. With all the issues and delays, coaches are just looking for some answers. Put a NSA rep there to answer question. Getting the answer " I don't know" from a teenager and having them turn around to flirting with the boys behind the desk is unacceptable. ?Third year there, third year dissappointed in field conditions. At least drag and reline the fields for the championship games. Big black eye for the NSA in Ohio.

Suppose to be about the girls not the money.

This all takes me back to all of the posts back in February & March when everyone was complaining about the NSA Alternates at the SPANO Dome. I recall reading about 50 min drop dead games there also. Is this what NSA has come to for World Series qualifiers?? So the OHIO teams are playing against other states teams that actually played out a game. Lets hope our OHIO teams can hold up to the rest of the nation. There was no way TEALTOWN was prepared for all of the people that was attending the States. Why not break down the age groups IE 10s,12s & 14s one weekend and 16s & 18s another or even As one weekend & Bs another. I sold my parking spot up front for $3 when we were done. They got a good deal because the neighbors around Tealtown was selling parking for $4 & $5 bucks ;D

This was a mess and due to weather, unroganization and greed.

Greed-Last year Teal Town only had the NSA A State and this year they had both. I did not see any field dry at all this weekend.

Unorganization-Fields were still unplayabled 30 hours after the rain stopped on Friday. there were a lack of umpires, changing game times, 3 hour delay on posting the 14B bracket on friday night but all of the paths in the park were blocked for entry fees and the concessions were over staffed. well see greed on that last one.

Very disapointing NSA experience.

Maybe time to send a message. In 2009 commit to NOT attending ANY NSA sanctioned events. Show your displeasure. There are plenty of good ASA and USSSA events. How good a tournament is depends a lot on the competition. Talk to the teams you want to play. Can do it right here on the OFC, slowly. Get every one to another event. Of course one of my fav's is Heat'n It Up in Wilmington. How bout you switch it to ASA??? I don't know how all that works (just a parent) and I don't know why we have to have 3 sanctioning bodies in the area. Maybe its time to weed out one and NSA gets the most complaints. Just some thoughts. (again, I admit uneducated so don't rip the idea just explain :D)

Does the NSA really care?

If the NSA is really serious about running a top level state tournament then they should be coming back to their membership to ask the questions around ?How do we improve this State Tournament?? I wonder because they require you to play the NSA State Tournament to play in the Nationals that they feel they have a lock on teams participating in the State Tournament. And that they do not need to ask their membership on what they can do to improve the State Tournament. If the NSA does not ask any questions on ?How to Improve? then I believe it shows their true colors that it is all about $$$$$$$$$.

We do realize that Tealtown is a non-profit organization run by volunteers. And the history of Tealtown not being able to handle ?rain issues? with their fields with the limited resources and materials the question becomes why the NSA chooses a facility like Tealtown to run a State Tournament of this size. Again you wonder is it all about $$$$$$$$$.

Here is a list of improvements ?If NSA cares? that everyone can add to:

- Do not go back to Tealtown next year
- Choose a facility that has a history of handling rain issues in a timely matter
- Choose a facility that has proper bathroom facilities to handle this size of tournament
- Choose a facility that will supply the correct size pitching rubbers
- Choose a facility with adequate parking
- Choose a facility that will drag and re-line fields for the semi-finals and championship games
- Use a three man umpire crew for the semi-finals and championship games
- A dedicated ?NSA State Tournament? Web site for the communication center for scheduling, rain delays, changes and general tournament information
- A better communication plan for weather delays

Feel free to add to the list and maybe someone will read this from the NSA and take some action.

A concerned parent

Tealtown has allways been this way - going back 16 years that I've been going there for games. They are owned by the Mt Carmel Glen Este Bosters Club. Their main and only goal and priority is to make money for the Mt Carmel and Glen Este School district. there has never been any communication from this group for softball or baseball tournaments. Nice location , nice fields but as long as a school bosters club own's / runs whatever they will never change. I think the NSA would be better off moveing to a public or another privately owned facility.

checked weather.com

Thursday July 3rd, Milford Ohio had .34 inches of rain,
Friday July 4th, Milford Ohio had .29 inches of rain

are you kidding me!! barely over 1/2 inch of rain in two days !!

Shame on NSA

1 .... let TD's of other NSA tourneys know you will boycott them, let them put the pressure on NSA.
2 .... let local officials know the loss of tax dollars ... our team was billed $40 per room taxes for 2 days, times 15 rooms .. thats $600 in taxes they lose!!
3 .... let NSA national know
4 .... let teal town board know, their emails are on their website

or do nothing and watch state qualifier be at tealtown again next year (does somebody at tealtown know someone at NSA, or is there $$$ exchanging hands under the table?)

My team will NEVER attend a tournament at Tealtown again!! This was the worst run tournament I have ever seen. I am still so furious with the communication to the coaches it's not even funny!!

There is absolutely no reason that Expressway Park should be up and running by 8:00 am on Saturday (3 miles down the road) while Tealtown could only get 2 fields ready in 7 HOURS!!!!

I will be shocked if half of the teams return next year.

The difference is Expressway has tile underneath their fields for draining and a certain type of river bottom dirt that asorbs water much better than mostparks. Actually, I believe after 27 years of softball that it is the best park in five states. Personal opinion though.

Can play NAFA. Go to www.playnafa.com

Seems that NAFA is run by old USSSA and ASA people wanting a better way for the girls. Less fees for teams and tournament directors.

I hear they appointed an Ohio State Director Saturday night and a Kentucky one as well. It's not up on their website as of yet who it is.
I heard the 2009 Eastern Regional will be played in OHio next year and the state tournaments are going to be run one age group at a time.. instead of all.

Just wondering who the state director is. Somebody let me know when you see it posted.

Expressway did a good job with the fields and short changed us on a real tournament since they had Sunday booked for the endless men's tournaments. I was shocked to see the fields when we arrived considering 3 of our other teams were rolling in mud in squeal town... and the other 3 were figuring out who was going to win with pool play only .

This was my second visit and I will never get my wife to go back. 0800 Sunday and the Lady's toliet was already out of toliet paper. Same as before, no one can answer any questions. I found out more talking to the umpires in the Hotel than I did at the park. I know I dropped a bunch of money to let my dd play one game. I take that back, I don't call 50 mins a softball game.

What a joke! I don't think I have ever seen a more disorganized and unprepared event as we had this past weekend. We knew we were in trouble when they could not even post brackets until 48 hours prior to the tournament! As we were driving in on Saturday, only to be sent back home, we saw a number of fields along the way that were in use. They had the same weather conditions as Tealtown. How hard would it have been to look at the long-term weather forecast and begin to develop contingency plans which included people, equipment, supplies, re-bracketing & community approval to play into the night. This was just a TOTAL lack of preparation on the part of the tournament officials. I really enjoyed the appreciation they showed everyone for the patience exhibited by players, coaches and families by charging a full entrance fee for a 3-inning game. I am surprised they didn?t charge us $5.00 to get official word for the Friday rainouts! :)

This tourny really hacked me off to no end!I dont believe that i can put into words the total lack of respect the nsa showed to all teams involved as well as the families. We played 150 minutes of softball in a 3-day tourny >:(.My dd had 3 @bats in 3 games that lasted 3 innings each, this is crazy!I dont believe anyone who was there would argue that allot of games end results would have been different if we would played the "normal" time allowed.Side note: i would have gave howard my $500 dollars (i know he doesnt accept money)to give to his favorite charity for 150 minutes of bp with my dd.I believe she would have left the cincy area with allot more knowledge than what she gained in tealtown this weekend.
Off this subject went to the wright state hitting camp a few weeks back,dd loves this batting technique but still trying to fine tune it,thanks again mandan for inviting us to go. :)

I for one am glad my dd's 12U team played at expressway this weekend. Although there were no games on Fri, we were well informed and the fields were ready for our 8AM Sat. game. Was a little disapointed at the changed format since they needed to be done early Sun. for an adult league. Didn't feel to terrible since I heard all of the issues at Tealtown from teams we met at the Hol. Inn. Sorry to here everyone had a bad tourney.
