In an earlier post Grandview Heights temporairly suspended it's softball program to try and iron out numerous long term problems that have plagued it for years. They have been having public meetings conducted by the superintendent with the AD and school principals also attending to gain input to revamp and reorganize the program by recognizing it's shortcomings and eliminate the negative aspects by dealing with it in steps. They have defined what makes a good program, defined the roles of the parents and the school and in tonights meeting the roles of the coaches and players will be defined. From all this a mission statement and code of conduct will emerge to put everyone on the same page and hopefully bring order and direction to Grandview softball. Now the million dollar question is who wants to apply for the job as head coach? If things don't go well and the old problems persist the superintendent will pull the plug on the program but if all the meetings and dialogue work then this could be seen as an opprotunity to someone to build a decent program. I will say that most likely they will want someone with age and experience as too many inexperienced and trial and error coaches is a scenerio they no longer want to deal with. Another aspect of the meetings has been to get the girls additional development beyond the school program by getting the players into summer league and travel ball. Again, anyone see this as an opprotunity to build something worthwhile and want to apply?
