Thanks Joe for the advice. Needless to say, advice from you is well taken.

The IFA program is two people from NAFA and an ASA man. Of course, NAFA people was ASA and USSSA people who was tired of the money grab.

My difference with NAFA was Indiana posting to give every team who enters into his Memorial Day and 4th of July tournament free passes to the National Tournament. Needless to say, I got hammered by e-mails and PM's over it. Teams where saying, " So why should I go to a qualifying event when Indiana people can just pay for the National tournament and go."

Can you blame them ? I can't... and clearly understand. I worked my tail off here in Ohio to try to get people involved. I offered up the state tournaments for organizations to run to raise money for their organization. My charge to them was $15.00 per team. Most of that went back to National. I didn't see any other sanctioning body offer that up to the teams... why because it is about money.

I know it takes time to build something and the first year out is hard unless you get down to business and give them a reason to come to your event. We hope that with the money prizes for "future tournaments" I could maybe help some teams out. Maybe draw a few teams to the events. People liked the idea very much actually... and I will be working even harder to accomplish that for the teams.

I plan on passing this IFA Ohio State Directorship off in two years if not sooner to someone. Someone who has the same thoughts and deep feeelings to make a difference for the girls here in Ohio... and other states for that matter.

I like rec ball and want so much to do for them as well.

I am trying to give this game back to the girls and trying to have these Convention and Visitors Bureaus in these cities give back to the girls and the parents who spend the money in their cities. So far, it has been working out very good for the girls indeed.

I thank you Joe for your advice... it's always a well respected opinion.

Hey Quake, You do have some great ideas and you definately are willing to put the effort in making those things happen.. I wish you good luck with ISA. Remember that some of these changes will take alot of time to happen.. Your ideas for tourneys, Time limits, money etc) are awesome ideas and is what had me interested in some of your tourneys, but it will take a few well run tourneys and word of mouth by teams for things to start falling into place.. I hope all your efforts pays off for softball in Ohio and we are still looking to make one of your tourneys next season.

I know it will take time... for any association to build up teams.

It will take a couple I am sure... but if we throw out so crazy prizes never heard of in Ohio..... then I am sure we will attract some teams not looking for the berths... but the "future travel monies" to be given. Or the uniforms, or the jackets, or whatever we should come up with for prizes.

But, most of all, you got to have the TD's who can run a good tournaments and have fields that can drain if it rains. That way the teams get a chance to play... parents don't feel the monies they spent to get to the tournament gets wasted due to poor drainage of the fields...... and after last year's rain on the weekends and the economy which is yet to come...... rest assured we will do everything to play that is possible. I mean, I brought in a helicopter to play in Wilmington last June... I don't know what more I can say. If that doesn't prove it... and prove it isn't about the money as I spent major tournament dollars on that adventure... but the girls played and the teams played until 1:30 a.m. on Monday morning and not a word was said. They were just glad to play.
