Thanks Joe for the advice. Needless to say, advice from you is well taken.
The IFA program is two people from NAFA and an ASA man. Of course, NAFA people was ASA and USSSA people who was tired of the money grab.
My difference with NAFA was Indiana posting to give every team who enters into his Memorial Day and 4th of July tournament free passes to the National Tournament. Needless to say, I got hammered by e-mails and PM's over it. Teams where saying, " So why should I go to a qualifying event when Indiana people can just pay for the National tournament and go."
Can you blame them ? I can't... and clearly understand. I worked my tail off here in Ohio to try to get people involved. I offered up the state tournaments for organizations to run to raise money for their organization. My charge to them was $15.00 per team. Most of that went back to National. I didn't see any other sanctioning body offer that up to the teams... why because it is about money.
I know it takes time to build something and the first year out is hard unless you get down to business and give them a reason to come to your event. We hope that with the money prizes for "future tournaments" I could maybe help some teams out. Maybe draw a few teams to the events. People liked the idea very much actually... and I will be working even harder to accomplish that for the teams.
I plan on passing this IFA Ohio State Directorship off in two years if not sooner to someone. Someone who has the same thoughts and deep feeelings to make a difference for the girls here in Ohio... and other states for that matter.
I like rec ball and want so much to do for them as well.
I am trying to give this game back to the girls and trying to have these Convention and Visitors Bureaus in these cities give back to the girls and the parents who spend the money in their cities. So far, it has been working out very good for the girls indeed.
I thank you Joe for your advice... it's always a well respected opinion.
