Hitting and Hitters Discussion Hitting Clinic with Dave Paetkau at The Academy

The Academy in Greenville Ohio is hosting hitting instructor Dave Paetkau once again for both player lessons and a coaches clinic. The dates will be as follows:


December 19th (Friday) One hour lessons 3:00pm thru 8:00pm

December 20th (Saturday) One hour lessons 9:00am thru 8:00pm

December 21st (Sunday) Coaches Clinic 9:30am to 12:00pm
One hour lessons 1:00pm to 7:00pm

December 22nd (Monday) One hour lessons 9:00am thru 1:00pm

Dave Paetkau is the owner of the PowerZone Academy www.powerzoneacademy.com and he is known as one of the best hitters to ever play in men's fastpitch. Dave's teaches a hitting style that is virtually the same as the style that Coach Candrea of the US Olympic Team and Arizona University. He has a great personality and has a way of getting his information across to players of all ages. One of best known players that Dave has worked with is Jennifer Yee who attends Georgia Tech University (D1) and was also on the Canadian Olympic Team. She had the 3rd highest batting average at the 2008 Games in Beijing.

Dave can work with players on all areas of hitting including slapping. There will be a few time slots that will be dedicated to slappers only depending on interest. The last time that Dave was here we had two or three seperate slapper sessions.

Parents are welcome to attend and Dave is very accessable if you have questions. Seating is plentiful at The Academy and the bleachers are right in front of the area that Dave will be working with players.



The prices for the Lessons and Coaches Clinic are as follows:

Players: One hour session - $40.00
Additional session - $25.00

Coaches (Parents) Clinic: 3 hour clinic = $30.00 per coach
(Clinic covers all aspects of hitting including mechanics, situations, and therory)

What are you going to be charging for each lesson, Rich?

BTW, I'm not surprised to see the lengthy session times. The last time Dave was around you virtually had to force him out the door to get him to go for something to eat.

The cost will be the same as last year $40.00 per hour. However we did add a nice twist this year. If a player wants a second session with Dave then the cost for the second hour will only be $25.00. For example, if they wanted to attend one hitting session and one slapping session then that price would apply.

Hope to see you and Jessie there once again. Please remember the coaches clinic on Sunday morning. Dave provides a ton of information in those 3 hours.

How much is the coaches clinic? Any word on what Dave will be discussing this year? Last year part of the clinic was on picking pitches. Hillhouse says that Paetkau is one of the best at that.

cshilt the cost will be only $30.00 per coach. For a three hour clinic in which Dave will dicuss all aspects of hitting. I am sure that he will once again touch on the picking pitches stuff again. That is one of the big advantages of having an instructor like Dave who played the game of fastpitch at the highest levels.

I would suspect that all spots will be filled by the end of this week or so. In total nearly 70 players will work with Dave while he is here and so far nearly around 25 coaches have signed up for the coaches clinic. There are still a few spots remaining in the coaches clinic as well.
