How is the SLL going to shape up?

My thoughts:

Elmwood lost Dauterman and Morgart, but still have alot of talent. I am going to pick Gibsonberg as the winner, the return of haubert (sp?) is going to be a big time offensive shot in the arm.

Hopefully soleprop will get on and set me straight :D

Elmwood lost 5 starters to graduation. They have talent returning but also some big shoes to fill.

On another board I seemed to be in the minority picking Woodmore #2. If they can generate some runs they will do well, if not they could finish middle of the pack.

I don't think any one team will dominate the SLL this year and I can see any of the top 5 finishing #1.

1) Elmwood - Lee pitching and team power hitting
2) Woodmore -Michaelis with over 9k's/gm and 1.27 era last year. She will keep them in every game
3) Eastwood
4) Genoa
5) Gibsonburg
6) Otsego
7) Lake
8) Lakota

It will be interesting to see how the girls at Gibsonburg respond to a new coach. Their pitcher has been around for 2 years now and unless she has picked up some dominating new pitch, I don't exactly see her running the league. She does however, have a nice lineup to back her up.

I can't say that Lee is dominating either, but again, strong leadership and offensive power to compensate there.

Michaelis might be the most dominate from the mound in the league, but severely lacks support. The best she has going for her is Ulinsky at 3rd, but nobody else stands out in my memory as consistent and supportive.

Eastwood will be interesting. I think they surprised a lot of people last year and depending on the work those 2 pitches did over the summer, may upset some big teams this year.

I will be interested to see what DR does this year with Lake. I was more than impressed with how he turned that team around last year, but it's been a long time since I've seen anybody besides Ackenburger pitch for them. I believe Laplante (sp) graduated as well as a few others.....but I think coach will have them ready.

Lake will have Lowe and/or Densic.... Lowe is looking very good and working hard.
Lots of great pitchers left in 2008 in NW Ohio so it will be interesting on who can and will step up to fill those shoes.

I think Genoa may be a little high on the list. I love the Comets, and Coach K always gets his girls to play, but this will be a rebuild year. Pitching will be a question. They have a couple of holes in their defense that I will be interested to see how they handle.
