Community Travel 10u

I am curious what the board thinks is an appropriate number of tournaments for a travel community team at 10u.

There seems to be some disagreement as some think 4-6 and some think 1 or 2

Last year the Parma Wildcats 10u team played in 7 tournaments and played an 16 game regular season. The more the girls can play the better they will get.

There are alot of 10U tournaments out there with all levels of competition. I say go to as many as your team can afford. The more games they play against good competition, the better they will get. Plus they will have a ton of fun just being in the atmosphere.

If you can get 6-7 tournaments with 10-U that's great. Seams that they "burn out" easily at that age.

we did 8 tournaments in 2008 and played solid all year until the "big number 8" hit. Burnt out... played sub par in the last tourney. I would limit it to 50 games for the 10U's and at about the 40 game mark start taking an honest look at your situation. Now, if you have a team that is more resistant to burnout... keep on truckin' with extreme caution.

ThatGuy,

Knowing your daughter, I bet that she would say...a hundred! :)

We talked about this in person the other night, but I'll throw in my opinion for the forum. For 10U, two a month sounds about right. Not enough to burn them out, but enough to give them a good taste of the tournament experience.
