gladimdone , to answer your question (where are the Laser Red this weekend ) as you know the Laser Red is compiled of all 5th and 6th graders (10 and 11 year olds ) and per NSA rules you can only to play up 1 age group , that would not allow them to play 14"s in an NSA. LOL!

why are slammsr playing 14 when they always play up/whats up
wehre are lasers reds in spanodome thing

If this is really an alternate NSA state, then the Slammers could be using this as an alternate National tournament to try to qualify for in case they don't qualify for the ASA?

The slammers would have played 16U and 18U if Bill had all his kids. But he didn't !! I talked to Bill about it last week.

63 posts and a reputation? ;& I guess we will have to see Sherrif Andy Taylor to help you with your issues. Maybe even Deputy Fife or dare may I hope - Sgt Carter and Gomer.

just out of curiosity what speed are these elite girls pitching(ballpark) at 14u i know it is not all about speed you need control.but there is a 13 yr old i seen last year as a 12 throwing 57 i seen it with my own eyes and it is not my dd.but she is in our organization.i was just curious to the jump to 14 what most girls are throwing

Elite Pitchers: between 62 and 65 with controlled movement, at the 14U level.

Right. There are two or three females in the world throwing 69 or 70 right now-- and you're saying it's sort of necessary for 14U pitchers to throw 62 to 65 with controlled movement? Is that on Neptune?

I would love to see those 14u pitchers doubt there is any that really throw that hard unless you go to some pitching coach that blows smoke up you you know what.
Well MAYBE just MAYBE 1 or 2.

I heard the laser red just picked up some girl that moved up from florida. She was clocked at 66 on the gun and had nasty movement on her curve...I believe her name is Abby Kilpatrick..She is going to be a freshman at parma padua.

This is a post from Dave Weaver (Founder of New England Catching Camp) over at discussfastpitch.com. He downloaded the info from the NFCA site. Take it for what you will.

Lots of discussion on what is ave pitch speed for fastballs at different ages. I downloaded the results from the 5 NFCA Administered Camps held in 2008.

NFCA Pennsbury Recruiting Camp, Yardley, Penn., June 12
NFCA Great Lakes Recruiting Camp, Toledo, Ohio, June 19
NFCA Colorado Sparkler Recruiting Camp, Westminster, Colo., June 30
NFCA Colorado Fireworks Recruiting Camp, Aurora, Colo., July 1
NFCA Elite College Showcase Recruiting Camp, Plano, Texas, July 24

Now I have no way of knowing if any of the pitchers went to more then one but here is how the numbers worked out.

633 different pitchers results were tallied from the 5 camps

Each pitcher had the speed of 2 fastballs recorded.

The data for 1266 recorded fastballs showed an average MPH for all 1266 pitches as 56.5MPH

123 girls had at least one pitch at 60mph or faster

63 girls had both pitches at 60 or faster

Maximum MPH was 66, thrown 3 times by 3 different girls

Not sure what would be the ave age of these 633 girls but seems likely they are at least sophomores in high school.

Thanks for mentioning Ohio Blast-Dennison, BlastMom. It is truly a compliment to be mentioned among the likes of the Slammers, Ice, Valley Extreme, etc. The truth is we did beat the Slammers last year and our girls were sooooo fired up for that game last year, they played out of their butts. We didn't make mistakes and won. The fact of the matter is that the Slammers are a very elite team year after year. Not to down play our Blast team, but if I were a betting person, I'd put my money on the Slammers over us 9 out of 10 times. Heck, in pool play of the same tournament, we lost to a team after leading by 7 in the last inning! An elite team doesn't allow that to happen. It is up to our girls to prove that they are worthy of being mentioned among the best in Ohio. There are some very good teams out there -- Chain Reaction being one of them. They are very well coached and it shows in how the girls play and their mind for the game. Again, I appreciate what you're saying about our team, but the girls have to prove themselves game in and game out and not just one game last year against one of the best. Good luck to your Ohio Blast-Fullum team. I hope you guys do well this year!

Coach Jeff

I remember that day that you beat the Slammers. We were waiting for the winner, and played you next after spending an hour gearing up for the Slammers, didn't know what to expect. No "fluke" though, that was a nice team you have. Slammers parents were humble & complimentary also, they didn't think they played their best that day, but they were classy and said you outplayed them and earned it. Don't know what you have coming back, but a few kids really stood out as solid tough players among a team overall that seemed very good. There are always a few "off brand" teams that get overlooked, and have to earn their stripes via the scoreboard. Good luck this year!
