To off set the other side lol.

I love high school ball, playing for your school is an honor. I think its cool my DD is playing for a school where her aunt played on their first fastpitch team 20+ years ago.

The school spirit, watching the scores in the paper, the balancing act for the girls of School work, softball, Prom, jobs, looking at colleges is very cool to watch. yeah some let it work themselves up, but generally all come out of it better more mature kids.

I also appreciate all the hard work High school coaches do, Frosh through Varsity. All the time they dedicate to the sport is impressive.

Without High school softball the sport of Fastpitch would die a slow death in Ohio.

So I say Kudos to all the High school players, coaches, trainers and parents who make high school softball so much fun to watch!

Couldn't agree with you more Uber, I get so tired of all these travel snobs that do nothing but complain about High School Softball. My DD is having a blast playing with all of her friends and she is intelligent enough to understand that there is a difference between travel and High School. I say Congrats to all of the girls that are representing their schools and communities and all the coaches that give their valuable time.

great points. H.S. ball is far more pressure, and learning to live with each other for 3 months. Hopefully it does what it's supposed to do: build commitment, pride and develop mental strength to face life's challenges.

I like h.s. ball, too. We go to other school's games when we can just to see friends from travel ball playing. My dd is only a freshman and making the adjustment slowly, but I think she will come to enjoy it, too. Winning definitely helps.

I do love to watch Urbana play. they have a great team. I will always bleed Maroon and White. These young ladies do a great job balancing their lives. There are some great coaches out there. and some who are there for the $. Think how the ladies feel that give it their all to support their school and then sit the bench all season. They never set foot an the diamond except in practice. What is that teaching them.

I just breaks my heart to see this go on.

Had to laugh about this thread.........travel snobs......lol....okaaay........look around people.....most of the travel ball snobs make up 90% of the HS rosters.......the other 10% are politically appointed.....in a perfect world HS coaches and Travel coaches would work together to build their programs together......only know of a handfull doing that.....glad you are having fun playing HS ball......now peek down the bench and look all the girls in the eye and see if they too are having fun....if so perhaps your school can share their secret to success..........I doubt any school will have a completely happy team....someone will be happy and someone will be unhappy.......but to group travel ball folks into the snob category in my opinion is laughable....without travel ball snobs playing HS ball would be like watching rec teams play.

travel ball is a great asset Miami, most of our coaches coach h.s. and travel, so we agree. H.S. is just different animal, not saying better or worse. Both are complementary to each other. I like h.s. ball because of the ability to teach, that's harder to do with travel kids from different schools with different philosophies.

Our High School only have 5 ladies that play travel ball. I think that more of them should be playing travel. But I think the problem is the politics in High school turns them away from wanting to take softball to the next level. We need to find a way to fix this problem. We not only need to focus on the Now, but who is coming up from elementary and middle school who can help the high school team. These young ladies see their older sisters playing or not and this is where we can effect the future of Fastpitch. For some they see if you work hard it does not matter you still do not play, so why try. This not playing not only effects current players but future players.

I agree 100% HS ball is much more difficult to coach without a doubt.......but for this reason.......if a Travel ball coach is not happy with their CF or 3rd base positions or whatever the case may be....they simply go find another player or make the commitment to spend extra time with the player they have to upgrade the position........the HS coach on the other hand must play the cards they are dealt....perhaps a girl is the better 1st baseman but because they do not have a good SS she must sacrifice what she wants to play for what will help the team the most....my only point is if the HS coach and the travel coach work together maybe just maybe programs could become deeper and more competitive.........I just feel there is way too much we/they attitude....not enough synergy........and to call travel ball players snobs when this board is made up of mostly travel players and travel coaches does nothing at all to overcome the egos involved.

We are happy with our HS team. Our DD is a freshman and the only travel player, a few play rec ball, but that's about it. I think our coach does a great job, and quite honestly, DD feels more like a family with her HS team than she ever did for 3 years on her travel team. She's playing both V and JV where needed and the older girls seem to have taken her in so she doesn't feel out of place. We are City League, so most girls in City League probably can't afford travel ball. So they are out there trying their hardest and doing their best. It's good to see.

The only problem I have heard and seen is underclassmen thinking they should play every inning of every game. And many are already frustrated with playing time 4-6 games into the season. And some quit and think they accomplished something but only hurt themselves!

Come on MVV 15, you dont know what a travel ball snob is? Its not everybody who plays travel ball or parents of travel ball kids. Its the people that think they are above high school ball and above learning anything from their high school coach. They are the ones that feel the high school team and the players on that team are fortunate to have them on the team because they play travel softball. That is a travel ball snob! Its a honor for a kid to play for their school, not the other way around.

If your team is good, bad or avg., wear those school colors with PRIDE!

As Coop would say, play for the name on the front of the Jersey not the name on the back!

Not the case here. we have had none quit. but unhappy they can't even play one inning.

My problem is no playing time at all. I don't think all of the young ladies should get equal playing time. just some playing time. They get none

I love travel softball too, dont make any mistake about that. I just think they are 2 different animals.

I agree with you Uber. My DD has played travel ball for 7 yrs. she is not a starter for High School but gets to play very little. then there are some on the High School team that play none.

I hate to hear about kids who work on their games not getting playing time. I am less bothered by it when its a kid that doesnt work on their game until the season starts and stops when the season ends. Clearly your DD has worked on her game, I feel for you and her. But, that is a sports problem not only a high school softball problem. I know kids who didnt get much playing time on their travel softball team, on their Travel volleyball team, on their high school basketball team etc.

UF I really hope things turn for her, and she gets to really show her stuff!

This is not really about my oldest daughter. It is about my younger ones. I am affraid there will now High school program for them to be involved with when thay get to that level.
It should never be about who you know or friends with. In order to build a successful High schoolprogram you need the players that are coming up. and we reall do not have that many.
What happens at the top reall does trickle down to the bottom. and the parents and younger players see what is going on and will stick with travel ball or rec ball rather than put themselvea thru the BS that happens at the top.

Uber....I agree the kids should play for their school with pride and when we run into kids who play for the name on the back of the jersey instead of the name on the front.....we find a way to get a new player........just to put the snob label on travel coaches or players seems a bit demeaning..... kind of like saying because you have one bad HS coach all are bad.....or because one school allows kids Varsity positions who have relatives in the program they all do......I would bet money most of the politics are generated by parents.....the kids play because they love it....when they quit having fun they should quit period! I am fortunate that this is my second go around...I am enjoying every second of it because believe it or not...this time will be gone very soon and we will miss it very much....enjoy it while you can......

You still seem to be missing the usage of the phrase "Travel snobs" you seemed offended so I just tried to explain what the orignial poster meant IMO by travel snobs. Its nothing like putting a label on all high school coaches because one is bad, because again its not labeling all travel ball players and parents lol, unless you think all travel ball players and parents act like prima donnas.

But I beleive HS ball is GREAT playin for your school is one of the biggest pleasures as a teen...for me anyway and My dd...JMO...
There is politics in both HS and Travel I think the differance is in travel you have the choice to leave and go to another ORG. is not happy in HS you may not have that option...

I know I would never label all people of one certain thing because of just one person. That is not at all OK. It is profiling.
