2009 Washout

We have had 5 games postponed due to weather in South West Ohio. Now all I can think about is how the local weather man implied last night that it has been a dry spring. If this spring gets any wetter we will loose a nice portion of this season's games.

Has anyone else experienced many wash outs this season?

Same here. We have lost 5 in North Central Ohio. We have got 6 in, but none since 4-11.

We have had 4 postponed in the last 10 days. Can we start up the "why don't we play h.s. softball/baseball in the fall" thread now???

We have lost 4 but actually 2 were in one day down in KY, and the other two were on that Monday & Tuesday that was more like Mid Feb then early April. We already have two of those games rescheduled and the other 2 should be before long.

The good news is that we have gotten 10 games in so far, so I guess we can't complain too much.

We lost 3, but were able to make one of them up. So we are down 2 games.

LOL!

We have played 7 but 6 were in the first week. It is starting to feel like travel because 6 games have been away and we are experiencing long breaks between games.

I've had five games rained out in the past three days! Schools on spring break around here have been scheduling make-up games around noon, in addition to their usual games at 5:00.

Monday was the last game I worked and our high school assignor was amazed that we got it in. It started at 11:00 a.m. with a temperature of 42 degrees. The rain started in the first inning and we had a steady drizzle for the next two hours. At several points there was some sleet and ice pellets mixed in!

It wasn't the most miserable conditions I've ever umpired in- but it easily makes my top five!

Well, I guess I can only hope for a sunny summer (unlike last year where it seemed to rain EVERY weekend).

Maybe it will be the opposite of last year. For us we got nearly all of our spring games in, only getting rained out twice (I think). In summer ball we were constantly dealing with rain.

Swap Softball for Volleyball - no big deal. Not sure how many softball players also play succer er, I mean futbol.

Not so easy to move baseball to the fall. Lots of boys play both football and baseball.

misstified3134;164002 I've heard some coaches discussing the possibility of making up a game on a Sunday.. Is this allowed by OHSAA rules? What are other teams trying to do to fit in games?[/QUOTE said:
As far as I know it is legal to play one game on Sunday. I think double or triple headers have to be played on days that are not followed by a school day.

Batting .500 today on field conditions...

Early afternoon game played on a field in great shape, under a brilliantly sunny cloudless sky.

Late afternoon game, at another field a few miles away, cancelled due to excessive mud!

Here we go again:confused: Monday rain got us again and it is not looking good for tomorrow. Sixth canceled-postponed game today this year with only one made up. Tomorrow does not look good either.

I hope this means we get favorable travel weather this summer:cool:

Will the MS school teams try to make these games up? Meaning some of my players might miss another week or two of our travel season.
