Because of the 14u division being dropped, we have gone to a different format. We will be playing two pool games with double elimination. This will give a majority of the teams more than a 4 game guarantee. Also we will be playing in Pool Play Only, 1-1/2 hr. or 7 innings and no new inning after 1-1/2 hr. Here are the pairings on Sat.

9:00 Field 1, Crush Fastpitch vs Ohio Classics
9:00 Field 2, Heart of OH Bombers vs Ohio Dragons
9:00 Field 3, Central OH Lady Vipers vs Mid-OH Lady Bullets

11:00 Field 1, Crush Fastpitch vs Mid OH Lady Bombers
11:00 Field 2, Heart of OH vs Licking County Heat
11:00 Field 3, Central OH Lady Vipers vs Ohio Lady Warriors

1:00 Field 1, Ohio Classics vs Mid Ohio Bombers
1:00 Field 2, Ohio Dragons vs Licking Co. Heat
1:00 Field 3, Mid-OH Lady Bullets vs Ohio Lady Warriors

Start of Bracket Play

3:30 Field 1, Seed #1 vs Seed #9
3:30 Field 2, Seed #5 vs Seed #6
3:30 Field 3, Seed #2 vs Seed #8

5:30 Field 1, Seed #3 vs Seed #7

Lets hope for Good weather and let the Summer Circuit begin...I will keep all informed after I get home from the park on Sat. and Sunday. Good luck to all the teams..

Hey Rebel - Looking forward to defending our title but just a quick question about bracket play? Why wouldn't the #1 Seed get the first round bye instead of the # 4 seed? & from what I can tell the winner of the game between 1 & 9 will end up playing a team that was the winner of their own pool. At this point a team with a #2 or #4 seeeding actually would be better off than a #1 seed. - Just asking ;&

See y'all next weekend

Viper,

The main reason is that their are nine teams. The way the bracket is set up is that you have 4 teams at the top, 1 vs 9, 3 vs 7, and 5 teams at the bottom, 2 v 8, 5 v 6, and the winner of the 5 v 6 game will play seed 4. Just the way the numbers work out. There are several ways to do it, this one looked better off for the #1 seed in my opinion. And you know all of us have opinions. As far as I see it, your team is the team to beat, for you looked awful tough last year...Good luck and I'll see you in 6 days.

Would make more since to have the 8 vs. 9 play a rattail game... and from there you have 8 teams and then play down to 1... sending everyone into the losers brack with the loser of the 8 vs. 9 seeds as the first team into the brack.

The final results was as follows: Playing for the Championship were the CO Vipers who came through the winners bracket undefeated and the Ohio Classics. The Ohio Classics beat the Vipers in a back and forth battle the first game throwing the Vipers in their first lost which meant they had to play again for the Championship. What a game it was the second game as well with the score going back and forth with the Classics on top by two when the game was called due to light in the 6th inning. Two very great teams who played that could have gone either way.

I would like to thank all the teams entered for a fine week-end of softball. I know I totally enjoyed the week-end watching some great softball and good times.

Wow. Called for darkness! You guys were out there a looong time after I went home. I worked three games starting at 9:00 a.m. then was done for the day.

A thoroughly enjoyable day for me! All my games were one-run games, decided in the last inning.

This is a nice park (first time I'd been there) and you guys put on a great tournament.

Bretman - Doesn't sound like you called any of our games - Sure would have been nice to put a face to the screen name :D

Want to put a shout out to the Rebel community. Very well run tournament - everything kept chugging along nicely. The hot dog buns for the sloppy joes was actually a nice touch on Sunday :lmao: Met fellow ofcr's Rebel 1 & gottaluvthegame. Was able to play 7 games. Nice way to start the season.

No, I didn't have any of the Vipers games. I was on field #2 for the first three games on Sunday.

It is always great to run into OFC regulars out on the field. I'm sure we'll cross paths sometime again this summer!

PS: I am in love with the Mingo Park concession stand's schredded chicken sandwich! :D

Just to follow up on Rebel-1's post. There was some great softball played by some very talented young ladies. The way some of these 11 and 12 year old (and maybe a few 10 year olds!!) kids could hit was amazing. We saw some great pitching, we saw infielders diving for balls, we saw a CF make a running catch, stop, turn and throw a rope to dbl up a kid at 1st and we saw IF making unassisted dbl plays, just to name a few. The "game" awareness some of the kids displayed is a testament to good coaching.

The Rebels Organization would like to thank all the players, coaches and parents for a great weekend.
