Rudeness its just not acceptable

I realize this is not the ususal Post, but I was so irate I had to tell it.

My wife witnessed the most inappropriate behavior by a fan at a tournament this weekend. We were playing at the new Ohio Sports Park in North Ridgeville. As we all know they charge 5$ admit fee to fans with a free drink. Two senior citizens (woman) were taking the money at the table upon entrance to the park. This gentleman ( I use the term loosely) was so irate he had to pay 5$ he litterally threw the money into face of this older woman and stormed into the park. Now i am talking these women are old enough to be grandmothers. I bring this story up because these same two woman were kind enough to help us that same day - we brought my daughters 80 year old grandmother to the game, which happened to be on field 6 in the back. Upon simply asking for help, they sent a golf cart down to pick her up they also came at the end of the game and took her to the car. I would only hope the person who threw the money feels quite ashamed of himself today - You know who you are - You have to be proud that you insulted a senior citizen who was merely doing a job.

Thanks to Ohio Sports park, great facility, 3 great days - and thank you for helping our senior citizen to enjoy her grandaughters game.

Wow. Can you imagine being rude enough to throw something in the face of an elderly woman? That's pretty bad.

That is too bad. Paying gate fees are part of travel ball. I don't like it any more than any one else but alot of these teams hold these tournaments as fundraisers. We are here for the kids so just pay it. Complaining doesn't do anyone any good. I would and will pay the gate fees because I am here to support my daughter and her team by being there and cheering them on. Its all about the kids. From what I have seen most gate fees have been around $3.00 so if you figure in the free drinks its not any different than anywhere else.

You have to be joking. That is not only rude. What kelp you from grabbing the guy and putting in his place.

Here what I would have done to this dude. I would have ask the Ladies to give me his 5 dollars back. I would have handle them a 5 Spot out of my pocket. Then I would have went up to this Dude and said here your 5 dollars back. And just walk away.

Keep him guessing.

God Bless

Not acceptable under any circumstances. The gate fees were posted in advance and $5 with a $2 coupon isn't a bad deal. He should not have been let in. The two ladies at the gate were wonderful. I've always heard you can't fix stupid, but you can fix rudeness. Be nice.

I'll rat out some poor behavior from some elderly folks , not to some elderly folks , but from them. Luckily in our game against the ******** our side of the field had the covered bleachers. A couple fans from ******** joined our side to avoid the direct sun--no problem with that at all. But when a fly ball is hit to my kid in CF and I have to listen to the old guy in the red hat sitting next to me say "drop it , drop it" I was getting very aggravated. When sitting with fans from the opposing team it's good manners not to actively root against them - support your team and leave the other team alone . MD

Another problem that happened at a different park this weekend is that many people tried to avoid the fee by saying they were a coach when they were not.

MD,

As a member of the ******** cheering section, I sure don't condone that behavior and I don't think others in our group would either. I know we all sometimes hope for an error when our daughter hits a fly directly to a fielder but we need to keep those thoughts out of earshot of others, regardless of where we are sitting and who we are sitting with.

I thought the our group and the other Ohio teams fan sections we came in contact with at Riverside and Perry were well behaved. Hopefully you noticed the rest of us cheering for your team after the game was over too.

here is one for you
the first base player from the team we played on Sunday at the OFC tournament at the college had zero class as she flipped off one of our parents and walked by later cursing our parents and making smart %^$ remarks
there is no room for that kind of attitude no matter how good you THINK you are
But we all know it worked out in the end

This happened to us in a school ball game at a tournament our school hosted. I had no idea why the parents from the other team were sitting on our side, there was nothing about our side that was better than theirs. DD was pitching her 17th inning of the day when a pitch got away from her and hit a batter to load the bases, these parents erupted in cheer on OUR side...it's totally uncalled for. When DD struck the next 2 out to get out of the inning, our bleachers erupted in cheer!

They comments from the older folks were just misplaced --everything about the ******** team/coaches were awesome. Obviously they had no clue my kid was the one they were actively rooting against. You know , they probalbly are great people , got carried away in the heat of the game. But have some courtesy when setting in the middle of a group of ******** parents. The comments were not screamed but I was setting directly beside them. Just did'nt appreciate it, and the only way it gets corrected is if someone speaks up about it. again the ******** coaches/players are 1st rate . MD

We were in a game that was as tight as it could get this weekend and parents started hey batter batter distracting the 12u kid at the plate. I want to win just as much as the next guy but come on PARENTS ROOTING AGAINST A BATTER. Both pitchers were fighting and it was hard to get a called strike, tired, final game of the day that is just poor parenting, sportsmanship whatever you want to call it! Good thing is batter put down the bunt to get tie in. Great bunch of ladies on the other side of the field, hate to see them represented that way.

weggy you will just have to trust me that the conversation that would have ensued would not have been pretty. I respect all elderly people . But you are correct I should have politely as possible said the same thing the DD said when I told her the little story about the comment -- her droppping a fly ball-- "Yeal Right" MD

PS sorry about mentioning team names forgot ! MD

I always hated (and still do) the distractions from the parents. Cow bells, air horns, etc. It's a bit bush league.

I was not present when it happened. As I stated my wife informed me of this as she came up to the game with her mother. Had I heard or seen it, I assure you I would not have been quiet. As a former coach I have been pitched a few times for arguing with the umps. So I am not shy to speaking my mind when I need to .....

The person who acted this way, I am quite sure will here about it since the thread is starting to take on a life of its own.

YEA, but you know how this works. We all have to chime in on a topic we care about or just heve to clear the air.
