Classics went One and Done. Lost a tough one to New Era Diamond Girls 1-0.

Last I heard New Era beat Tunder Elite in the Semi Finals. New Era Playing Hawks in the Finals. Don't know who Hawks played in the Semi Finals. Good Luck to the Hawks.

Over all the All-Sanction world Series was ok. The 10u umpires we seen Sat and Sunday were terrible. Don't get 1-1/2 hr pool games and 1-15min brackett games?

Thanks Matt..we won the championship 5-2 over New Era..they are out of Buffalo NY.. I heard they had not lost a 10u game this season and they played up at 12u a lot..we got them Friday 6-0 and today...very solid team that played great defense. We also got past a team from Illinois today (Triple Terror) that was 34-1 this season and the Valley Extreme.. First time playing the Extreme - a very good team ..great folks and coaches too. New Era girl won fastest pitcher comp at 54.. KK clocked 53 mph.. KK won her 31st game as well... The New Era coach said your pitcher, the Thunder Elite girl and KK were best they faced at 10u this season.

Doug

Edit: found out girl from Thunder Elite won FP contest at 54.

Doug,
That was our girl that won the fastest pitcher contest. 53,53 54mph. Congrats on the win. I was gunning the new Era girl at 45-48 in the Championship. Your KK was very impressive consistently at 48mph hitting 50mph a few times. Her changeup is very good.

Thanks Jeff ... I did not get up there Thurs from work in time to see the pitchers and one of my parents told me it was the new era girl .. KK's second pitch was at 53, several of my parents relayed that to me... either way in the mud/rain it was good that none of the girls pulled a leg muscle...

That makes sense, I thought the new era #7 threw a little harder than #13 when she faced us on Friday, not much 2-3 mph ... 4 weeks ago Larry had KK throwing 4 pitches and her change was inconsistently thrown for a strike ... we decided to have her throw it much more in practice and lessons and it paid off... she was outstanding tonight with it .. getting a critical k on a 3-2 change that I had no idea Larry called .. LOL.

Great meeting you up there.. wish we would have lined up and played - it would have been a great game...

Doug, I was standing behind the backstop and heard the speed of every pitch, and I do not recall anyone coming close to the speed of the Thunder Elite or Classics pitcher at all. I heard the Classics pitcher throw 53 mph, and the Thunder Elite pitcher throw 54 mph. I think Oiler Pride hit it on the head, I don't recall any other pitcher hitting more than 50 mph (including yours). Tournament officials were using a jugs Gun. Give credit where credit is due. By the way, the fields were fine to pitch on.

I am new to OFC and travel softball - this is our first complete year - saw a lot and learned a lot - HOOKED! We were at the All Sanctioned World Series this weekend in Columbus. I heard about this site from all our experienced travel parents so I thought I would join and ask some questions to gain some insight. So here goes to all you experts....

There was a pool play game at the World Series....Ohio Hawks against the New Era Diamond Girls. The Hawks players were slapping their hands and gloves together synchronized while the other team was at bat. The umpire told them to stop. The team kept doing it and the umpire warned the coach - this is your last warning.

Why would a team do this? Is there any other reason than trying to distract the batter that a team in the field would do this? What do the rule books state?

one of those things most people don't like seeing --considered bush league by most --I was'nt present and don't know anything about the circumstances of this game you mention but teams that do that sort of thing are usually frowned upon. Would be sad that the team that won the tourney (obviously a very good team) would resort to that. goes along the line of positive vs negative cheering --I don't see anything positive about the glove slap routine . It is something the girls picked up from a team at GAPSS, they slap their gloves in rhythm as the pitcher is taking the sign, as they crouch and get set, the pitcher goes into her windup and stop as they hit fielding position (glove down, hand above their shoulder) - as the pitcher releases the ball.

The ump asked me to tell them to stop, I told them... then out of habit they did it again a couple pitches later. The ump warned me, I told them to stop and they did. No big deal. After the game the umpire thanked us for not making a bigger deal of it and stopping - and told me there is nothing illegal about it at all. But, in the interest of good sportsmanship we stopped.

Later in the tourney, I noticed the girls doing it and asked the other teams coach if it was distracting and his answer was that he had not even noticed...

The Riptides 12u from Cincy did this all last summer when we were down there with the Doom. Saw them many of times thru the summer. Wasnt a distraction at all for anybody and no teams ever complained about the Riptides doing this.

If this is a problem for the batters for the other team, then that tells ya their is a lack of concentration on their part. No worse that fielders chanting "no batter" (and other sayings) during the game at young ages.

Thanks for the insight. All the same, I would rather we not do it if the perception is negative.. they work too hard as a team to have something like that cast a bad light on their success ... thanks again...

Just a thought.................

If only a couple to a few even have question on it, is the perception negative????? Its your team but dont let a few change what your team does. Like they say, you cant make everyone happy! JMHO.

Good luck with your decision down the road!

teams don't complain because of inconstient rulings from blue. one of things that isn't worth fighting about but I have never heard anyone speak positive of the action. MD
