We are pretty excited to announce that Maumee Ohio will host the 11u/13u/15u USSSA world series July 19th-24th. All games in Maumee, and majority of fields, if not all will have 200' fences. This is a great event for not only NWO but all of Ohio. There will be a detail thread on the USSSA tournament page, but we wanted to share this announcement.

If I were a 12U team I'd be thinking about playing up at 13U just to stay close to home---same for 14U teams playing up at 15U. Worth thinking about in today's tough times.

Couldn't agree more about is being closer to Southern Ohio and the USSSA influence down here. Not sure there are fields here in the Cincy area I'd want to consider WS quality or at least enough of them...but since I haven't been up North I can't assume anything but hope for the best with their fields. Toledo vs the earlier announced Columbus, OH.... hmmmm... you be the judge or flip the coin. At least Columbus has some some great fields (if they were available). Heads or tails... what do ya do? I'm happy I don't have to go to Iowa for the 11u. Still isn't Panama City but it's an odd year for us...is what it is.

Just whatever The point is It's in OHIO. OHIO takes pride in their softball and their hospitality.

I'm sure last minute scrambling went on and Denny did what he thought would be best BEFORE losing it to ANOTHER state (who I am sure was slobbering at the mouth for it).

Expressway Park held a 11u and 13u World Series a few years back and yes Cincinnati has many things to do as well.

But, I am just glad for the teams that it STAYED in OHIO.

I am sure the Lady Irish and SGS Magic organizations as well as ALL the other local orgs will band together and help in ANY way possible to make it a great event for our out of state guests.

It's a great chance to promote Ohio softball... promote it with class and the rest will fall into place.

Great save, Denny.

weather here in late July will be as nicer or nicer then Orlando! insulting NWO is your opinion, there are things really nice to do here:
Maumee bay resort: www.maumeebayresort.com
Cedar Point 45 minutes
Highly Ranked: Toledo Zoo Art Museum and new Imagination station
Sauders Village
GREAT golfing
Maumee Holidome indoor swim park

and Rolf Park has one of the nicest water park/swimming in the state.

We'll do it right, we'll have great deals at hotels/restaurants etc.!

We played in the 11U in St. Louis two years ago and the competition was very good. One of the most exciting games I have ever coached was the night we sent the Arkansas Elite Home. When we arrived at the tourney, everybody was talking about the Ark Elite, Olathe Rockets and Wasco Diamonds. We sent two of them home, but lost to Wasco who won it all. We played in the ASA Eastern Regional in Sterling Va last year and I would say the competition was comparable at both tourneys.

For those whom are not familuar with the fields in Toledo, Rolf Park is right off the turnpike in Maumee. There are 8 fields there (4 toward the north and 4 to the south). Fences are for fastpitch softball. Waterpark right there in front of the fields.

CYO complex is about 10 minutes north of Rolf Park. A ton of room here for parking and teams to hang out/warm up at. It also has 8 fields (same setup as Rolf) but if I remember right only 4 of the fields have fences.

Both of these complexes are very nice and perfect for fastpitch softball. I know there are other fields close to the CYO complex that has 4 fields but I can not remember the name of the fields.

Also there is the Lucas County Fairground fields where to Toledo Mudhens use to play ball at, that is close to Rolf Park.

Not sure which all complexes will be used but there are some very nice fields up in Toledo.

CYO has no fences, but SGS held a nationals @ the 18O or 23U at CYO a few years back and they used or purchased fencing.

I can pretty much guarantee if the SGS is runnning this they will be playing on fields with 200' fences.

They know what they are doing and are very experienced at running large tournaments.

We went to the 13U Nationals in cincy, really we were there to play lol, we had a blast but it had nothing to do with site seeing lmao, they had about 17 teams in the 13U division.

Thanks for the corrections on the CYO fields Uber. I couldnt remember if the two far corner fields at each ends had them or not.
Been gone from the Toledo scene the last two seasons.

This World Series should be a good one ane well ran!

thanks for the positive comments. We will be using Rolf and LCRC. Portable fencing for 200' fences will be used, in addition 4 of the fields at Rolf are already 200'. LCRC is starting 2010 is privately run, and the people running it are putting more money in the facility. Uber is correct, we hosted a 23u world series about 4 years ago, and it was very exciting. We think this will be even better, as all 15 fields are within a 1/2 mile of each other, and Maumee, ranked as a top 10 all american city, with plenty of amenities will be a great host location!
Toledo ain't vegas, but there are nice things for families to do.
