Class of 2010...

The debate between Clay and Springfield got me thinking, and when I looked at the Blade's final stats something hit me about all the leagues.

Where does the Class of 2010 stand as an entire class as a whole compared with recent classes in NWO? I know specific schools have had ridiculous classes come through but it seems most of the top teams are very senior heavy.

There may not be an OSU or Michigan type of player in the class, but it is one solid well coached class.

I think Dave Day, Bob Graham, Wayne Baker, Doug Irick and Bob Dick and their staffs deserve a lot of credit for the job these guys did with this class. I bet between the 5 of them they coached 90% of this class at some point in their development. I am hopeful the next group of kids had the same advantage this group had. They all had flat out classic games against each other through the years helping the group develop!

As a parent of a kid in this class, I want to take a second after reflecting and thank each coach. I am starting to coach again, my middle DD's 10U team, I will take a little bit from each of these men and their assistant coaches, I doubt anybody had a better group of coaches to draw from.

This could be an interesting topic.
I would be interested in knowing what coach or coaches influenced these kids in there development, and ability in the game.

Dont forget all those parents who gave up all those weekends and making time for all those practices and specialty coaches, extra workouts. Without a good parent or travel mate these kids do not progress....

Agree soft77, good topic.

Got some long overdue shout outs---here goes:

Sue Erdmann: fall ball coach where dd saw her first fastpitch game. It's a tough job teaching a kid she has to run on a dropped 3rd strike and how to steal. Thank you.

Janet Short: dd's first fastpitch coach (jr high). Janet was a hard working mom who took the time to share her knowledge and love of the game with many girls who didn't have all the advantages that other programs may have had. Thank you.

Larry Jaworski: took a chance on a kid with little experience but who just wanted a chance to play. Thank you.

Duane Lanham: dd's first and only pitching coach. Smartest, hardest working man in the state. Thank you.

There are many more, but these are the first coaches who fueled her love of the game. Thank you.

Duane is the man! By far IMO the most underrated coach in our area. Great coach and teacher of the game!

My DD and I learned the game being around Larry Jaworski. I'm not sure who learned more me or her.

He is a true teacher of the game. Central is lucky to have Guru like him at the Helm.
