Indoor Tournament Indoor qualifiers

I suppose this will get an unfavorable reaction from TD's who run them, but I shake my head and just don't understand indoor tournaments that qualify teams for outdoor national tournaments. First of all, no one can deny that the indoor game is different, often very different depending on the facility (e.g., field surface and size). Secondly, the rosters must often be different, especially at the older ages where some girls don't play due to other sports/commitments ... if its not different on the winning team, it probably was on some of the other teams they played to get there. And finally, the timing is different ... I mean, does it make sense to qualify for in the middle of winter for a tournament held 6 or 7 months later? Doesn't all of this dilute the value of these berths?

I guess the TD's have to do stuff like that to get enough teams in the mood to play in this kind of weather. I even despise winterball when the weather gets like this. LoL

I've changed my belief on this since last year.

Yes, it is apples(outdoor) & oranges(indoor), but why not have a few oranges at the summer event.

From what I understand now anyways, any team can attend a national, if they really want too. So, earning it in winter is actually more plausible then the teams that simply request their births and get them. No?

i agree...unfortunately it's all about the benjamins......

It seems like any team can get to any nationals should they really want to go without ever playing a game, which is ok but......I would like to see some type of name given to a birth that is actually won versus a hand me down, the kids deserve the recognition.

While I am sure many of the teams that get in this way could by winning outdoor tournaments as well, I think I might be embarrassed to tell other teams at the nationals that we got in winning an indoor one last winter. Obviously some of the national tournaments are much more "selective" than others.
