After readin everyones post, and readin Hitters twice , I have a question,,,,,,, where is the big out break of bat altering in girls travel ball?. I must be turnin into a skeptic because its gettin more difficult to believe anything I see that has the words, Offical, Rules and by-Laws from any Sanction. Anytime a sanction preaches about safety theres normaly a hitch....... were gonne make the game safer.... but......... heres the but, its gonna cost you a new bat, Well they have almost made the bats equal in ball exit speed, so now all that matters is how pretty it is to the dd in question because a Miken and a Wally World Special arnt that far apart, so lets concentrate on the ball, USSSA did it the previous year and besides a few complaints from malcontents the overall views from the sheeple seemed to be agreeable. I wonderd how long it would take after USSSA started using a flight restricted ball before the rest of the sanctions would climb on board the safety train. Is it about safety, I dont think so, in all honesty I think its about leveling the playing field between offense and defense, for years fastpitch was a pitchers/catchers game, with the advancement of hitting instruction, and better bats the scale is becoming more geard to the offense and we cant have that, more offense means more excitement, but not at the risk of somone suing one of the sanctions,,,,,, so we must make things equal, So now we are hitting mush balls with Walmart special bats, ........dont we all feel better and safer?..... so to all you doo gooder Bueraucrats....get out of our pockets and out of our game and leave us alone.
Know what they call 500 Bureaucrats chained together at the bottom of the ocean........ a pretty good start
Tim it has all become a joke....you pick a bat company and look at the warranty. Do not use below 60 degrees is what most say. Now Anderson claims there bat is only good for about 5,000 hits. Why because the ball temperature can cause their bat to dent below 60 degrees. Another bat company claims you will void the warranty if you hit telephone poles!!!! Check out the bat warranties and it is funny just reading them.
How many games in the Midwest are played above 50 degrees in March or April? Now lets put the lawyers in game mode...if the bat company can not make a bat to withstand being used in less than 60 degrees then they should not allow the game to played with that equipment. Why? If the bat can be damaged or dented and it was checked before the game and lets say it is dented on the first at bat and on the second at bat it breaks in half and hurts the pitcher or third baseman. Whose is liable for it? If the umpire allowed the game to continue knowing it was 59 degrees because the bat manufacturer did not specify plus or minus any degree less than 60 then the game MUST be stopped because they are using equipment that the bat company has already identified as unsafe below 60 degrees as it could dent the bat! ASA and the NCAA have their heads in the sand in my opinion if they think for one minute that they should not be sued if someone were hurt using a bat that has already been deemed unsafe for use by the bat company if the temp falls below 60 degrees. It would have to be handled like a rain delay and wait for the temp to get to 60 again. The umpire needs a direct hook up to the Weather Bureau for up to the minute temperatures so they can call the games. Louisville Slugger was sued by a parent claiming their son did not know the inherit dangers of being hit by a batted ball as a pitcher and the court and a jury of our peers granted a big time settlement to some really stupid parents and I am indeed sorry for their loss, however they must have been negligent to have even endangered their child by letting him play the game in the first place or never say enough games played to understand the risks associated with the game.
If the ASA wants to control the bat standards step up and do it! Make sure the bats are safe and demand it by putting it in a standard that the bats can be used safely to 40 degrees because I have been there when the games were played OR make the balls variable temperature balls if the bat makers are too shy to make a product that is durable enough to withstand the less than 60 degree temperatures. I have always felt technology accounted for about 20 feet on the balls flight and it was technique verses technology. If Anderson claims less than 60 degrees will void the warranty and dent the bat, I would buy the Walmart Specials at $59.95 plus tax or use a composite in this neck of the country and only use the RT when Brits team is behind in a game on a nice sunny warm day that you needed a win unless the parents on her team would chip in to replace the bat I can potentially dent when the temp is less than 60 degrees. I guess it depends on how bad they want to win!
A lot of these parents actually believe they can buy a home run with certain bats....:lmao:
By the way look up the company that claims hitting telephone poles will void the warranty....this has your name all over it as probably having tried to exchange a bat before after the stuff you use to make Brit do anyway
