When the game grows beyond the coach, the problem is that not many coachs will admit that they are not the right person for the job.

This is the reason you see so many travel coachs stop coaching their own daughters, because they have exhausted what they can teach their daughters.

But once a coach there is always a burning desire to coach, but they have to know what their limits should be.

Well put. I quit coaching my youngest. I could not take her any farther. I'm taking what she is learning from her coaches now and applying them to my 7-8 yr old rec team.

When a coach has been coaching for over 10 years, has a winning percentage of under .300, takes talented players and makes them hate playing softball for their school, and still does not know the correct ruling for a dropped third strike with 2 outs. (True story.)

I could go on, but it makes me too depressed!!

When they have a turnover rate in personnel worse than the Browns. If you have a bunch of kids that don't come back each year, I would take that as a red Flag!

The day that they forget that it is all about the young ladies that play the game. Teach them, know them and love them. They play for the love of the game. Its the coaches job to embrace their love and help them experience it. The day that they forget that...its time to move on.
