Favorite 14U tourney EVER:Orrville Fire in the Sky

Wow- what an amazing experience! 10 years worth of attending tournaments, this was hands down our favorite.

I would recommend this to any 14u team for next year, but sign up EARLY!

For anyone who has never attended, the atmosphere of firemen taking care of the fields, keeping the umpires happy, and everything else, was only part of the success of this tourney.

The town basically shuts down for this 4th of July wknd. The park is like no other, along with the carnival with live entertainment, basketball 3 on 3, and every kind of summer activity you can imagine, surrounding the softball games. Games were on time, professionally umpired, and almost every game went a full 7 innings.

The competition was top notch.

Stayed for the championship game between WV Mountain Thunder and Valley Extreme.
Thunder was such a joy to watch. From the pre game prayer to the respect they showed during the National Anthem. This was a humble but SOLID team, and deserved to win.
They are what the game of fastpitch is all about.

Right after the game was the best display of fireworks we have ever seen!

Thank you to the town of Orrville and their firemen for a weekend to remember.

(I am also posting this in ASA tourn. section to be sure the tourn. staff sees it)

I agree about the tourney being the best I have ever attended but I think you tarnish what was a fantastic weekend with your comment about one of the teams in the champ game. Even if true it would be better left unsaid as it would not change anything. ;&

It will become a 'must' play tourney for the Hawks... Our teams had a great time, the competition was first rate, field crews awesome and the entire environment unlike any tourney we have ever been to... 5 stars all the way.

Watched maybe an inning of the championship (unlike me usually watch most, but dd's were running around the carnival) and there was standing room only. Every year it keeps getting better.

AS I usually do, I was going to stay out of this, but I take offense to your statements Gumby that they deserved it and they wanted to win more and blah, blah. Yes WV Mt Thunder won the game and yes they are a very good team and are very nice and respectful people. But in no way shape or form will I allow you to say that my girls (Valley Extreme) didnt want to win the game, or didnt play hard enough to deserve it! Im very proud of my Valley extreme girls for playing hard all weekend long and they played hard in the championship game also! I think too hard! They wanted to win so badly they were overaggressive on the bases and at the plate. Is that wrong? They've never played in front of a crowd that size and they wanted to do good, thats all! So dont go on here, hide behind a screen name and throw stones at these young ladies. Show them the repect they deserve for making it there through some very strong competition over the weekend! As their coach, I am proud of each and every one of these girls for their accomplishments!

I agree it was a fantastic weekend. We had to head out before the championship game and fireworks but wish we could have stayed sounds like it was a great game by two great teams. Only had one incident with a poor call that could have changed the outcome of our last game. Like someone posted you never even realized that many teams where there. Always plenty of warm up room and shade for the fans which is great for the younger siblings. Wish Moe was younger lol.

Nothing negative toward Valley Extreme that I've seen. I was pulling for VE, but the fact is WV played a better game, didn't make errors and won the game. Unless something was said that has been removed, someone is being way too sensitive about losing.

By the way, what other tournament have you been to where they water the entire field between games? Terrific tournament!

No, something negative was said and removed. We are not really that sensitive about losing, we have lost before, and I am positive, we will lose again. Other people have stated that some things have been deleted.
Just too bad, I thought this was about the girls.

Yes Flashes you are right this is supposed to be about the girls for the girls...

As the old saying goes. If can't say something nice dont say anything at all.

(And for the record I don't have a duck on this pond only even know one girl on the team either team for that matter...)

We played both teams this past weekend, and they were both deserving of being in the championship game. Rick, way to stick up for your girls, there is no reason for anyone to have made such comments.

Just watching the championship game, I can't imagine anyone saying anything negative about either team. What a great hard fought game with some great plays worthy of a championship game. Both teams did a great job! Girls coaches and parents should all be very proud. I'm sorry, I wasn't aware that something was deleted from the post.
