Wow...with softball ending for us over the weekend I dont know what I am going to do with all this free time!!! My DD is going to be lost with all her free time. What do you do when softball ends? I feel like something is missing.....no practice, no batting cages, no nothing.... I guess we will just get ready for those August Tryouts. What are you going to be doing?

... vacuum two months worth of ballfield dirt out of the car.

Cut the grass, and actually take the time to trim with the weedeater.

Get re-acquainted with home-cooked food.

Pack up the Garmin.

Take two bags of empty Gatorade bottles to the recycler.

Take a nap....

:)

You'll have free time?? We continue to practice, and my girls play school volleyball then club volleyball. We never get to breathe.....

Practice will never end for us. I do think I might be able to get the grass mowed this week. Let's just say the yard has been neglected a little bit. :lmao:

You have a yard? After 10 years of travel ball, we have a jungle, and I was just asking Ted yesterday (when rain cancellation brought us home early) what in the heck we are going to have to do to tame it. All of next week is out for ASA/USA Nationals, the following weekend is Buckeye Heat tryouts, and Labor Day is QDSS. I would just hire someone to come in and put roundup on everything, but there actually ARE a large number of decent perennials that would expire with the rest of the jungle. (And the poison ivy would still come back anyway).

I've just about concluded that the kids will have to hire someone to fix the problem when they sell the house after we die.

Carol, I have 2.5 acres of yard and then 1 acre of brush and trees that I was seriously considering getting some goats to mow this down. Goats might be the answer afterall. They eat a ton and they eat everything. Of course, I thought about putting in a ball field or black topping might be another option as well.
My neighbor broke the mower deck on my tractor and I just haven't had time to fix it, so every other week, I push mow half the yard. It's amazing the things we do for our kids. Do you think they will ever appreciate it?;&

softballs never over, maybe some time off is all. You either stay with your team and practice in the fall and winter until high school ball starts or you find a new team and do the same thing.

After tryouts I'm going to spend some time watching my son play fall baseball and football!!! I only made it to 3 or 4 of his games all summer....sad.

Still have practices and tryouts, but will enjoy actually having some money in my bank account for a change! Gotta get to work on the yard, and maybe some golf on a Saturday morning in the near future!!!!

Yard work, true house cleaning, and practice. DD moves up to 12U next year and going to work on that 12" ball at 40'. Find a team that is playing fall ball, or sign up as an individual with local towns to get that experience going. Then working on what needs to get done during winter in the basement. So softball is done with us. But the added money back in the pocket will be nice.

We have 1.75 acres, but I could not in good faith say that at this point any of it (except for the small front garden, which I have to keep semi-respectable since I meet clients at the house) is "yard". I'm really not kidding about the jungle part.

And while I think the kids do appreciate things we have given up for them, I know ours will still complain when confronted with the jungle and the task of selling an otherwise decent house.

Been suggesting this to my wife for some time now. She thinks I'm kidding. :lmao:

Scot - Scary thing is, my wife knows I'm serious. As long as they are chained or fenced in (really secure) and have water they will goto town.

Not over quite yet but soon. I will probably take all the coolers bats buckets of balls and everything else I've been tripping over in my garage and actually put it where it belongs.
