Fall Tourney Costs... chime in...

Curious to see thoughts on spending the big bucks for fall tourneys.

Who doesn't care how much...and why?
Who does care how much... and why?

Who says we'll save cash in the fall and spend in the Spring/Summer?

For us it's budget. I want to maximize competition vs cost and looking at trade-offs is never ending. I can see the friendly or scrimmage circuit being a good way to go if we can get the teams to step up.

Others want to get the berths early and plan for schedule strength and "best fits" for their team and how much they can travel, what they can afford, etc

Age brackets and team depth are an issue I'm sure as well as teams "bracketed" by OHSAA rules and reg's.

I know I'm missing some other points... just getting this thing going...

I liked the friendlies from last spring 125 bucks for 6 games against good teams was a dream come true. Parents just need to realize that at a friendly the ump is going to miss things since he us alone,.

We have not sat down and had the conversation yet, but I am leaning towards using the friendlies in the fall and spring to get the new girls on the team up to speed with those that have returned. We will mix in a normal tournament or two in both seasons, but cost, competition and, of course, weather is a concern and part of the equation.

I like the friendlies. More bang for the buck as you are getting your team together.Especially; if we have a player or two that we may be working out.

Doing a high priced tourney in late fall or maybe a winter indoor tourney is ok once you are set.
I just do not want to break the bank in the fall with so many other expenses come summer.

Fall is an easy time for some teams to get their 2011 berths.
