For those who may be interested and wanting to keep a good thought for him, Bill Hillhouse's team is in the winners' bracket final of the men's world championship. It says his team is ranked 4th and they knocked off the #1 ranked team last night 3-1. I know many on here know Bill and may want to keep your fingers crossed.

I have seen him pitch many times in his lessons, and camps. He is fast with great movement and is only throwing with little effort. I would love to see him throw full speed and all out. He is also a great guy and teacher for the pitching lessons he gives.

My DD and I went up to Erie last year to check out one of his Erie area league games - definitely not on the international/national level of competition he plays in normally - more like a league he plays in to stay active between big tourneys. Me and DD were absolutely awestruck at his ball movement and speed - especially considering him saying afterwards he was being very conservative "bringing it" considering the level of play in that league. If that was anywhere near being less than "bring it" level - nobody would have even sniffed touching a pitch at 100%!!!

I also absolutely hate catching a 50% effort Hillhouse demo pitch on a bucket with no protection ... any pitch he throws has just plain unfair movement. He has so much spin control and such seemingly effortless motion that you swear he's throwing a trick ball!

We're definitely rooting for Hillhouse and team.

I too would still like to see Hillhouse at 100% effort in competition - I'm sure we'd be even more amazed.

Good luck to Bill and his team.

I have stepped to the plate against Bill and looked silly. His spin is ridiculous!

saw on another forum that his team finished 3rd in the world, losing the semi final in 10 innings. From what I gathered, this isn't like the girls level where there are 10 "national champion" tournaments at every age division, there is really only one. It's so funny trying to talk to him about this stuff because he seems to really hate talking about his own pitching. Like so many others, I got to catch a few for him at lessons with my DD, and that seems to be the only time he will talk about his own pitching and what he teaches. He's very candid that in his career he's tried just about everything and teaches what he does himself with a full explanation of why and how. And getting to see it first hand makes anyone a believer. Bill's humility and love of helping the kids go hand in hand with his putting the kids over everything. When I lost my job for a while, he refused to stop seeing my DD for lessons while I was out of work. Not many people will do that, at least not that I've met.

He had a bunch of the Jarvis team in Erie this summer. They had a tournament to warm up for world's. The winning pitcher for Jarvis was clocked at the world tournament at 89 mph and his change was 66 mph. What a great job Bill does with teaching,coaching,etc.. They were at our Women's 18over games helping us out this summer also. If he brings them to Erie next summer, everyone should come out. There were about ten of the top men's teams here ...
