I am sorry if I offended anyone with my comments it was not my intentions it was for a great cause I agree with you and I was in it last year and I will be there next year I was just disappointed with the fields and the attempt to fix them. It may have costed too much money and someone was right it could have costed a young lady a scholarship and it more important to give it to the girls.

Maybe you should give a go at becoming a TD then. It's easier said than done at times. This is a great tourney for a great cause. I wasn't there but know of the folks involved. I'm sure they did the best they could. Sometimes mother nature wins unfortunately.

I agree with Bratz, this has been a great tournament and one that you should consider putting on the schedule for years to come. Rain sometimes forces your hand... I don't know the people involved, but I know they have put a pretty good product on the field in the past.

Kevin,

Not sure what you seen but I was there and the rain came in at 930 and did not stop until 2:17 on the money, (5 hours of steady rain) I will agree it was nice after that but the fields were NOT safe to play on no matter how much field dry there was, which there was field dry there. This tournament I will say has had some bad luck due to weather, but this is one of the best causes in the state!

All in all scholarships were given out to the winners for the year! In my book that is more important than an additional game or two in unsafe conditions!

But this is just my opinion!

This is a picture of the 10u co-champ in front of field 3 around 12:40 or so. It started raining hard again shortly after the park cleared until 2:15 ish like Marc said.

Also the official that worked your game was reprimanded for speaking about something above their pay grade. I seen the storage where the skid of dry was. Throwing dry on wet and tacky surfaces creates mud, it doesn't suddenly make a field playable again. I will stand by our officials pulling the girls off the fields. I personally seen one of the pitchers go down throwing a pitch and that was the last pitch thrown in the tournament after that.

Anyone that has played in our tournaments this season knows we try our best to find a solution. We threw a skid or more of dry in Heath at the end of April. We changed venues from Whitehall to the turf at Berliner at a considerable added expense the first weekend of the month to play an event. The weather was unkind to everyone this weekend from Beavercreek and Troy (which seemingly never rains out) all the way thru the All-American Tryouts Friday with the lightning storm we pulled the girls off the fields from.

Also I apologize to the Ohio USSSA Pride if they did not want this published. I just thought it really illustrated how nasty the fields had gotten when the decision was made to cancel. If someone wants me to have Ricky pull this, please let me know.

This is one of the better run tournaments in the state. Our team has been in the tournament since it started, as the girls had played against Celine before her passing. I can assure you after the many late nights over the years due to rain, that the decision was to cancel was not made lightly. This crew who runs the tournament would spend hours on the fields trying to get it ready. But after 5 hours of rain, I would challenge you to find any fields, not made of turf that could overcome that. I don't care if its sunny and 80, after 5 hours of rain, there is no way that fields can be made playable, especially that many.

By the way, there have been years where coaches and fans helped pitch in to get the fields ready at this tournament because of the cause the tournament supports. Did you by any chance offer to help?

I for one was impressed that Saturday even got started on time (roughly), after the tremendous rainfall on Friday night. I thought there was no way that would happen. No doubt the right call was made on Sunday. To be honest, I thought the call should have been made a little sooner than it was, but I understand holding out for that list sliver of hope. There was no way there could have been any additional play on Sunday.

Man that Celine Wyatt was a poorly ran tournament. They were not prepared for the obvious that he rain was gonna hit. There was no attempt to get the fields dried up and I have seen and played in a lot worse. One umpire said they did not even have field dry at the park. They could have done a single elimination bracket instead of double because everyone knew they rain was coming today. They called the tournament at 12:30 and it was done raining at 1:30. Hey could have easily gotten it in. There was not attempt to hold off and see what happens it was laughable the outcome and you had teams not even playing the same amount of games because they still used their double elimination bracket. Just very disappointed in the manner it was ran and no my team did not win I guess if I won I would have been happy it rained and they called it without an attempt to hold off or add anything to the diamonds.

I will say this.. Yes it sucks when the girls get rained out but this tournament like a few other in our area is for a great cause. You should feel ashamed coming on here and Bashing them because of mother nature. i have been involved running several tournaments in Lancaster and I can tell you NSA ASA or U-Trip its about the girls. field crews always do whatever they can to let the girls play. When it rains for hours and hours it doesn't matter how much field dry you put on the field its still not safe and just turns to clumps of mud. it sounds to me that you are butt hurt because YOU didn't win the tournament. Its not about you! its about the girls and supporting a great cause. there's a trend I've noticed with you... YOU always find something to complain about.. You complain about the 10u polls and scores and everything else. Its about the Girls. when you figure that out you will be a better coach.

When a Tournament has a Reputation/History of working their butts off when things get tough! I love seeing people defending that Tournament/Organization and TD.
Sometimes you just can't beat mother nature. If the Tournament you are attending has experienced leadership, they know how long it will take to get the fields ready.
There is also a big difference when attending a Town or City run complex verses a complex run privately. I had 32 games scheduled at my Charity play day Sunday and probably only played half of my games. Went thru a pallet of field dry and spent a fortune on my #1 Aunt Rosie's Field Crew. 7 or 8 guys, I lost track! The money I spent took away from the money I was going to give to the Charity. All you can do is what you think is right at the time and never risk a player to injury. There is always another weekend of games.

Try Swimming. You seem to like the backstroke. No rainouts in swimming.

Minister is a good coach and works her girls pretty hard, I hope that your aren't giving this team a bad rap with all of this complaining. Also, that credibility is shot, with Craig posting that picture at 12:15... cmon look at those fields, and you come on here bashing the TD and then your edited response is still junk with you saying --

(EDITED RESPONSE)
"I was just disappointed with the fields and the attempt to fix them, It may have costed too much money"

Really!? How about $80k with Turf Fields cuz, thats the only thing fixing these.....

Not a very good swimmer I just realized I over reacted a little and I apologize if I offended anyone that was not my intentions. It's about the girls and my daughter means the world to me just like any parent would think. I was not thinking when I posted that comment about all the hard work and the good cause that went into the tournament.

Seems he has alot to say but never positive. And also when your standing behind the back stop watching two teams play and you want to talk smack about the winning team. Keep in mind one of those 9/10yo girls parents might help you stick your foot in your mouth! Not a threat just sayin

Yes... There are two Central Ohio Ice Teams

Central Ohio Ice06 Hollerich
Central Ohio Ice06 Minister

Mr. Greene is affiliated with the the COI Minister team. I believe he helps coach the team and the head coach is Abbe Minister. Both of my 10U daughters have played against this team and they have shown great improvement during the year. We know a girl on the team and I have heard nothing but great things about the head coach and seen her work and push her players. Just stinks that Mr. Greene is giving this team a black eye, but hopefully it won't effect his daughter in the future as she is nice little athlete.

He has apologized and I consider this over...

Matt,

Mr. Greene also contacted me and asked me to relay an apology to the Bulldawgs organization and anyone he may have offended. He was just excited at the chance to see some of the potential 10u match-ups late in the bracket as were we all. I forgive him as I know he just got caught up in the moment and meant no harm. I'm sure the folks with the Bulldawgs also are willing to move on.

Everyone have a safe and great holiday weekend. Let's do our r#!n dances to hold off that weather!

I think Greene just likes to complain, as others have mentioned. I recall seeing him post that the TD should have dropped the Loser's Bracket. Now looking, his team would have been the first ones Out, as they lost first prelim game and would have finished last. I think if that would have happened, it would have been additional reasons for the complaining. Guess we can all wait till after this weekend to hear the latest.

He said something jerky without thinking it through, got a proper smackdown, realized his mistake and apologized. That earns some respect back in my book.
