Grove City
Marysville
Westerville Central
Westerville South
Teays Valley

Madison Plains
Circleville

Also who are some of the top Pitchers in the area? I'll throw out a few that are returning that I've seen last season and over the summer...

Byers...Westerville South
Plant...Upper Arlington
Meyers...Grove City
Taylor...Teays Valley
Johnson...Groveport

I agree with Bink on his selections and Bloom Carrol, but I would like to a few more:

Hilliard Darby
Upper Arlington
Lakewood

Don't count out the dare I say "middle of the pack" teams that could be spoilers by the end of the season with maturity:
Pickerington North
Pickerington Central
Central Crossing
Thomas Worthington

Additional pitchers -
Gillian - Bloom Carrol
Birkheimer - Lakewood
Radobush - Hilliard Darby
Mayes - Teays Valley
Wamsley - Westerville Central
Can't recall name, relieved in state championship game(Long?) - Pickerington Central

Circleville

Pitcher
Spangler

State runner-up and a final four in last two years. Hoping the magic is there with this group.

Liberty Union

Pitcher
Klopfer

Not sure if there is enough there to go far in post season, but the kid can pitch.

Everybody that is mentioned is a pitcher, don't guess any runs are going to be scored this year? ?Are the only good players in Central Ohio pitchers? ;)

Agree about Lakewood. It will be interesting to see what happen now that they have moved down to DIII this year.

The road is alot tougher in D3 than in D2.

With dd being an incoming freshman, my observations are based soley on what I've seen indoors this winter at Field Sports & the Batter's Box

Pitchers (am only adding ones that haven't been mentioned)

tall girl from Central Crossing - saw her throw some serious heat at Field Sports

blond girl from Utica (maybe plays for Heath Crush??) - she was bringing it & then some

K Lennox, Gahanna - full of potential

Teams

Canal Winchester looked pretty good as did Hilliard Davidson

Westland is my pick for the dark horse - good coach with some hard working girls - could be the spoiler team

It will be a tough season for all this year. There are alot of teams with strong pitching and players. A few pitchers that weren't mentioned Childers of Johnstown and Buckeye heat,Macinch of West Jeff and Ohio Ice Black,Riley of Lakewood and Heath Crush, Windle of Big Walnut,Beaty of Whitehall and there are quite a few sophmores out there that will suprise you.D3 will definately be the toughest division, many of those teams can beat any of the D1 or D2 teams.

ccdteacher,

How in the world did I forget Gabby and Bloom Carrol? I gave myself a weekend suspension from OFC and the Huddle for that one...lol. ?;D

Oldtimer,

As usual your additions are right on the money and the pitchers you listed are every bit as good as the ones I mentioned!!!

Lady Knights,

You are absulutely right in your observation on position players and we should mention some as they will contribute greatly to there teams success.

Dara Toman...Westerville Central...SS
Kayla Ledbetter...Gahanna...Catcher
Sarah Gable...Bishop Ready...Outfield
Kristen Alfenhiemer...Central Crossing...SS
Whitney Fullen...Central Crossing...2B/3B
Hanna Toler...Canal Winchester...SS
Kim Morgason...Thomas Worthington...Catcher/SS
Katie Yoho...Grove City...SS
Kelly Zuephal...Grove City...2B
Ally Smith...Bloom Carrol...Catcher
Lindsey Webb...Circleville...Outfield/Infield

Some incoming Freshmen to look for, that should make an impact with there teams.

Kelly Roudabush...Hilliard Darby...P/SS
Emma Johnson...Groveport...P/1B
Dani Pugh...Bishop Ready...SS
Haley Widner...Bishop Ready...2B/Outfield
Reagan Schonoft...North Union...2B/SS
Allissa Turkovich...Central Crossing...2B/C
Dakota Pyles...Central Crossing...1B/CF
Taryn Allmon...Grove City...CF/2B
Linda Lauffler...Pickerington North...2B
Meagan Wvalmalsick...Liberty Union...Catcher
Melinda Snyder...Groveport...P/Outfield

I apologize if I forget someone deserving, like I did with Gabby and Bloom Carrol, but at least this is a starting point for position players...lol. ?;)

Bink - your knowledge of the kids and their respective programs is impressive. Although in regards to Grove City, the girls mentioned are very good players, but the 2nd baseman is Erin Galloway (classics black) who started as a sophmore and the center fielder is Rachel Fraser (phoenix 18U). With returning catcher Courtney Coleman, I believe those three will be counted on for major contributions while the new girls get accustomed to the new team. Keep in mind, Katie and Kellie are new to the program and will need some adjustment time and won't be asked to carry the load, just lend a hand.

Bink,

Nice mention on Madison Plains. Return 8 starters plus Val Conn. Nearly 250 k's last year, just a junior.

As far as the players behind Kaitlyn Klopfer for Liberty Union, she has a "few".
Let's start with the 4 "Rays" and 2 ex-Rays, balance that with the Heart of Ohio,
Phoenix, Blaze, Lady Liberty and that is all I remember off the top of my head.
Division III is looking pretty tough this season.

fanoffpsb,

Thanks for the compliment. You are absolutely right with your assessment on Grove City and I was only adding katie, Kelly and Taryn to an already talented team of players that should go far this year. I was actually trying to remember Courtney's last name as I was really impressed with her Catching/hitting last year and wanted to put her on the list of position players.

CC,

I actually seen your Madison Plains team twice up at OSU last year and after talking to one of your coaches after the a game, was impressed that you only had a couple of SR's on the team.

Anyway, good info from all!!! Keep the "Hot Stove" talk going and good luck to all in 2008!!! :)

I want to take a shot at some additional position players not mentioned above- I really feel that we are in a "hey day" for softball in this age group (just so happens to have the best 14u to 16u group - or five year age span)

Childers - Johnstown
Lincicome - Kilbourne
Tharp - Pick North
Vingle - Pick Central
Shipp(sp)-Teays Valley
Massie - Mechanichsburg
Said - Thomas Worth
Pennel-Westland
Forte - Thomas Worth
Legge - Kenton Ridge (Central Ohio in my eyes!)
Woodell - Dublin Coffman
Weaver - Olentangy
Fink-Big Walnut
Stewart - Thomas Worth
Vasquez - Upper Arlington
Martin - Upper Arlington
Streng - Upper Arlington
Beasy-Westland
Mt. Vernon girl - catcher - I need to remember her name!
Mananhan - Watterson

My apologies to any deserving lady left off - I think I butchered enough names and only remember others by a memorable at bat!

Incoming Freshman - (again, not mentioned above)
J. Abbruzese - Grove City
A.Herron - DeSales Stallions
M.Zynch(sp) - Watterson
Kilgore - Hilliard Davidson

Oldtimer I wouldn't get carried away with a 5 year span statement. Just as many sophomores thru seniors that were the same caliber...
