Just curious on what your thoughts are on a friendly/scrimmage 10 vs 12. There seems to be so many opportunities at the 12-U level. I understand the ball size and pitching distance but just would like to hear some feedback on this. Thank you!

Depends on the teams...
If you have good pitching at 10U you will be ok.
The better 12U teams / second year 12U will be looking to play the other top 12 or 14U teams...

Well, I have never thought this would be a good idea. But, with the right teams you could get it to work.

The main problem is going to be pitching; 10u: 35ft/11inch ball, 12u: 40ft/12inch ball.

If the pitching isn't a problem and you get that figured out, the 10u team would benefit greatly, because IMHO playing tougher competition makes the players better.

If you've got the ponies by all means do it.

Don't do this though, and I'm guilty of this myself. I did it one time and I felt like a blithering idiot roughly 30 seconds after I let it slip into my mind and then out of my mouth. When it's over, if you lose, don't even entertain the idea of "Oh welp, we were playin' up."

If you can't compete don't do it. If you can compete you're not "playing up."

A 9 year old pitching to a 13 year old from 35 feet away would scare me to death.

Maybe I am assuming, but if a 10u team is playing a 12u team, it would likely be a max 10u team, & they would be playing by 12u rules (40' mound & 12" ball). Obviously the 10u coach has to be confident enough in his team to be able to compete with a 12u team.
