It seems as though there are some teams in 10u every year that get called out for having either classless coaches or parents. This is NOT about them! I would like to commend a few 10u teams that we played this past weekend at the OFC Spring Blast. Ohio Dragons 10u, OFC Heat 04', Freedom Elite 10u and Vikings Elite 06' were a pleasure to play! I have nothing but praise for their coaches, players and parents. The weather alone could have made for some upset people, add in 2 very competitive games for us against Heat 04" and Dragons 10u and you have a perfect environment for negativity. These two games in particular were exceptionally fun games to be a part of.... and guess what, ZERO negativity! My hat is off to you all, I look forward to the next time our teams meet on the diamond!

I agree it is not always the case. It does seem like inexperienced coaches and parents sometimes cause a riff at the 10U level though. But at the Celine Wyatt Memorial tournament this past weekend we saw nothing but class at all 3 age groups including all 12 10U teams. And we got hit by bad weather Sunday too. As a TD it is really appreciated when conditions aren't ideal but everyone is understanding and patient and that was the case.

Thanks Andy - You are correct, the weather this weekend at spring blast was trying at times. But all of the teams handled it well and we are very appreciative for that. The event was very enjoyable considering we had 4 rain delays in 2 days. But at the end of it all, it was a good weekend of softball. We always look forward to playing the cincy slammers, it is always very competitive and exciting. Most importantly the girls, coaches, and parents showed great sportsmanship and class.

Nice to see 06' teams are playing... Man I am just getting older! I wish I could have done 3-4 years of 10u....

I spoke with Amy, the Head Coach for Vikings Elite 06', and she has those girls on the right track. She provides excellent instruction and hopefully the parents get to see dividends of her efforts. They will take their lumps, but they will also hand out some lumps too in due time.

Way to go! Continue to stay classy!

You will eventually run into a loud group of opposing fans. I have found if you ignore the opposing teams behavior, let your bats do the talking, and use the experience to teach your players that is how not to act, that plan seems to work best! Good luck!
