This is my last post on this website. I have some bruise chest thumping to do!!! I cant help it I get excited when any ball player does something exciting in sports. I dont care if she is on my team, the team we are playing, or on any other team. If you dont get excited for any kid or if you only get excited for your own then you might do some soul searching. Next time just call me up and I can have ALL the 7,8,9 year old girls there in person. My number is 304-991-2888. Then you can just dis on their achievement to their face. By the looks of things that would make you feel even better about yourself. Good luck on this website.Im done with it. I just wanted to clarify why the Vipers left the field. Not to debate anything else. P.S. walk up to the 7 year old who in the championship game hit a shot to the outfield off an eleven year old pitching 50 mph and tell her what you just said------ "Before you leave a bruise chest thumping about winning the no sanctions in columbus realize that most of us know its a low A to high B level tourney . None of Ohio's top rated teams played in it . " World Series champs " meh.
What could that possibly do for you????????????????Who says that and why??? I dont get people. Be happy for others or dont say anything....I wasnt out there playing but I sures the hell will bragg them up. They did awesome. I wouldnt care if they got last place ...Find something positive.. That way when they grow up they will have more confidence and do more with their lives then sit around posting on a website about girls softball and putting down others achievemnets. WOW!!!!! @brighterfutures

typical response from a parent who knows very little about travel softball. Brags like crazy , likes to hang out at the water cooler at work and proclaim " We won THE WORLD SERIES " gets called on it , then cry's " you shamed the children " .

So what your saying is its more important to teach your kids to cheat? Thats interesting. I find this funny. The WV vipers won 7 tournaments this year and came in 2nd in the other two they did not win. Not once did the girls or their coach get rude, disrespectful , or show anything else but class and respect for all teams they played this year and for the game. I am positive they have nothing to prove to anybody and every parent and kid learned and got better as a person and a player this year. This was a first year team with 7, 8 , and 9 year old girls. Here is some other food for thought. They were at the Lancaster Pride tournament in Lancaster playing Lancaster Pride when this happened. Hmmmmm!!!Not to mention they felt cheated by the same ump in Semi Finals game against same team. The Vipers coach simply asked for a different umpire for the championship game.He also asked this an hour before the championship game. Now Im not the smartest guy out there but if he is requesting a new ump before a game even starts , maybe there is a reason why. The field ump was ok with it til the 3rd base coach of Pride came over and made the call that the umpire would stay for their game. LOL!! Thats when you know its fixed. When their own coach of the host tournament is calling all the shots. Somebody there forgot it was about the girls and not about making sure you win your own tournament. The Vipers coach asked respectfully for a new umpire before the game which is not an unreasonable request. When he got disrespected by the umpire and the coach as if there is no way this request could possibly come between their plan to rig the tournament, there is not much left a coach can do.He has to protect his players. The calls continued in the first couple innings. Unless you want your kids to start swinging at balls in the opposite batters box (which its obvious by their record they have discipline)and no they were not being called the same both ways. The coach also does not want his players to pick up bad habits. So they had no business being there. Not to mention a ball that was 2 foot fair in the outfield that would have scored 2 runs was called foul. I watched this call. I was 60 feet closer to the ball landing then the ump. I know what I saw. In the heat of the moment and the way the day had already went if there was going to be any type of fair calls this would have been the time. If you would leave your team of girls and your kids out there to teach them its ok to be cheated and treated like crap then I question your respect for your kids and your team.Especially after you did not get one call and the umpire hugs and high fives every girl after a walk off play at the plate that could have been called either way.The umpire says to the Vipers coach " I give them hugs and high fives after every game."lol. Could you imagine Lebron going in for a game tying layup in Game 7 of the NBA Championship and getting fouled by Tim Duncan but the ref didnt call it.Time expires and Lebron knows he was fouled. Everybody does. It was so obvious. Then he just stands there in disbelief as he watches Tim Duncan and the same ref embrace each other and smile as they celebrate their victory!lol!!!! I applaud the Vipers coach and their parents for believing in what they do and who they are. Their record shows they are doing something right. OH YEAH!!!! one more food for thought for those that take it upon themselves to judge without knowing the facts. The following weekend after the infamous "walking off the field" move , this same WV Vipers won the World Series. Yes they went 9-0. Beat teams from Indiana,Chicago, New york, Kentucky, ect. Not one coach there had an issue with The Vipers. Oh and get this. The same Lancaster team with the same home cooking umps at their home town field lost 3 games in this tournament. It was only one week later. Same rosters on both teams. The same 3 teams that Lancaster lost to the Vipers beat that same weekend on a neutral playing field. MAYBE just MAYBE the Vipers and their coach were right?????????????????????????Just some things to think about. Not taking anything away from the Lancaster girls. They are great girls. I liked watching them play. They could have beat the vipers and I believe any team can beat any team on any given day. This is just directed at the adults and those that love to comment without knowing both sides. There will always be two sides.
My words of wisdom is pretty simple---- I believe it goes "one can?t really begin to understand what difficulties a man or woman is going through until one walks in his or her shoes".
What does it teach your kids if you have to win by cheating???

I was ignoring this post until someone brought to my attention these recent comments. As tournament director of this tournament and assistant in the past few years, don't feel it is right to let this go without any response. We have worked very hard to build the tournament up to where it is right now. I'm am not into bashing any girls, teams, parents or coaches. I will only speak on behalf of the organization when I say there was no cheating going on. Vipers did not agree with the umpires strike zone and neither did Prides coaches. But the bottom line she was consistent and that's all you can ask for bad or good. The girls have to learn to make adjustments unfortunately every umpire is different and you have to adjust. One thing I can promise is there was nothing unfair about that game except it didn't get completed. It was a shame for both teams that they couldn't have finished a championship game. I watched the viper ladies play a few times this year and was very impressed with there God given talent's. Hope the best for this team and young ladies. Those girls have a bright future!

OK, this one was shorter & I was able to read. So now I have a question...........
We all get Umps we don't agree with, but HOW -
DO YOU HAVE AN UMP IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME THAT NO ONE AGREES WITH??? Couldn't have who the TD or UIC feels are the best doing those games?

Unfortunately I knew nothing of the such. The UIC is in charge of the umpires and scheduling. Not making excuses but I certainly wasn't aware of this issue until I came over to the other park and the game was already over. And certainly not the way we wanted it to end!

This is why a TD should never coach a team in his tournament. The TD needs to be readily available to quell any issues and it also calms views of favoritism.

I was at the tournament all weekend watching the 10u and 12u games at this tournament. The behavior by the WV Vipers coaches all weekend showed how classless they really are. As long as they were winning you didn't hear a complaint by them but as soon as they got down in any game out came all of the harassment towards the umpires about the strike zone and other calls. I would bet money that this team is not filled with a bunch of 7, 8, and 9 year old girls. In fact, I would bet that half the team was 10 if not 11 years old. The pitcher that they were using came from the Viking Elite travel team because their season was done and she wanted to pitch. I know that she is 11 and has to move up to 12u for this coming softball season. I would like to say that the umpire did not give the pride girls high fives and hugs after the semi final game as stated by jason11wv. The pride pitcher and catcher along with the Pride coaches shook both umpires hands like they always do after every game. The Vipers coach did not ask for an umpire change until 10-15 min before the championship game was about to start. They just got done winning the loser bracket game and then had 10-15 before they had to play the championship game so there was no way they asked for an umpire change one hour before the championship game. Jason11wv also forgot to mention that the WV Vipers coaches kept asking the home plate umpire when she was getting her bonus check from the pride coaches and "It sure does look like a homer umpire" the entire semi final game. Half an hour after this game the head coach was at the concession stand still complaining to anyone that would listen to him and kept telling the Pride coaches they needed to come to his tournament where the umpiring is fair and they don't give home calls. As far as the strike zone for the championship game, the pride team didn?t like it either. I would have to say that the zone was small unlike what Jason11wv stated. I would like to know why the Vipers coach did not start the girl from Viking Elite in the championship game? She pitched every inning of every game up to this point. My guess is that he wanted to get down and then make a big scene about the umpiring and pull his team. I believe he had this all thought out before the game even started. Was there questionable umpiring all weekend in all the games? I would say yes and I am sure not every umpire is perfect. All you ask is that the umpire be consistent for both teams.

Is Jason11wv actually the head coach of the WV Vipers? Kind of a coincidence that the WV Vipers head coach's name is Jason.

Jason11wv - I couldn't even bear to read your entire post, sorry. Two things you will learn about the sport as your DD moves up in age group.

* Coaches can not request umpires - period. Get used to it and live with it. Not your game, not your call.

* Coaches should never, let me repeat myself, coaches should NEVER pull a team from the field once a game starts unless safety is the issue. What lesson is that teaching? If your coach really had a problem with the umpire and felt it was not going to be fair simply forfeit the game - take your impressive 10u record and head home. But when you do this or what was actually done don't act surprised when you get slammed for it. There is no excuse.

Again - the younger the team, the louder the coaches/bleachers
