12U and 18U Stingray Tournament Openings

Due to different circumstances, we have a pair of openings in the tournament field. We have a vacancy in the 18U and 12U divisions. Any teams interested in those spots, please contact MattTamanini@hotmail.com immediately. We can discuss specifics at that point.

Matt, who dropped out?

The 18U Rattlers dropped out, and the 12U opening was never filled. We had had that opening from the outset. We had had our coaches in Columbus try to feel around to find a team with no luck. Being in Chicago, I was of little use. So hopefully we will get these spots filled soon.

Yes, the Rattlers Fastpitch 18u did have to drop out due to too many graduation conflicts, and employment issues, and losing one player to a full summer trip to Europe. This is tournament we didn't want to miss, but we just couldn't fill all our gaps.

The Stingrays run a class tournament with great competition, I would encourage any team that wants to play against the best that this state has to offer and have a good time doing it, to jump on this chance to play here.

I just hope we will be able to play here next year.

Jack - this is Mark. I am sure the tourney will miss you guys. Too bad about this year. Hopefully the schedule can adapt to remove obstacles for the coming years. I know the out of state teams were not able to make it because of similar conflicts.

Hey Mark, how are you? I was really looking forward to being paired against the Stringrays team in pool play, again, not! LOL!

It was a tough decision for us. I am even carrying taxi players and an expanded roster this year and we still could not field enough players for several of the time slots. And God forbid if we would have had to deal with a weather event.

I really hope you fill the slot.

I'll miss seeing all my Columbus friends. Tell Joe I was thinking up new ways to try to keep the game close, at least for the first inning.

Maybe it has to do with me being too stupid to actually register my name. For 3 years I typed in OhioRays as a guest each time I signed in!!

Have you gotten any takers on the open slot in 18u yet?

To be honest, I have been so busy with my responsibilties for the opening of the Chicago Bandits professional team, I haven't had a chance to even check that email. I do, however, have that on my to-do list for this afternoon.

Have the tournament rules been distributed? Also, another thread has referenced opening ceremonies which I am unaware of. This is our first time in the tournament and I just want to make sure I haven't missed any e-mails.

Tournament Rules were sent to all coaches last night, and they will be up on our website this evening. All coaches will also get a copy in their registration packet.

In the past we have had an opening ceremonies in which Mrs. Spielman and other local celebrity breast cancer survivors have thrown out ceremonial first pitches. This year, because of the earlier start to the day, and Mrs. Spielman not being in the best of health, we will not be having any special opening ceremonies. However, our efforts to raise money for breast cancer research will continue full force in this year's tournament.

Bink44 - I do not think anyone from the event will be able to respond. I just talked to them and things are going well!!

I do not think it was filled though. I will ask Matt when I talk to him later and let you know.
