HEAD COACH:
Sonny Ross: Entering 21st season successfully coaching and developing recruitable players, HGS 1997-2002, Ross' Rookies 2003-2006, Cincy Static launch w tryouts in August '06 for 2007 season, Coached and developed the first Cincy Static College Exposure Division 2008-2010 resulting in many collegiately signed players...90%. Cincy Static Neon '01 2011-2016. Affiliated with what we consider to be the best pitching, hitting/slapping and catching instructors in the area and has a network of relationships with college coaches at all levels.
TEAM DESCRIPTION:
The 16U Cincy Static Neon Showcase team based out of Harrison, OH is heading into its sixth season as a team. The tough decision was made by the head coach to shelve the team for the 2017 season to take a break from coaching girls for the first time in 20 years in order to move his daughter and long time assistant coach to NC immediately after the 2016 season completed, to plan her wedding from afar and to spend time with two immediate family members that were diagnosed with terminal illnesses during the 2016 season. The wedding also posed three weekend conflicts between June and July which would not allow him to attend three of the Showcase invites that were on their schedule which played a part in the final decision.
This team is currently considering several players from the 2016 team who are returning to tryout this season. These players stayed busy playing with quality coaches and on teams with similar events that were going to be on our schedule. These events included Dayton Metro ASA/USA ?A? NQ, Top 50 PGF Showcase Invitational, Outlaws PGF Showcase Invitational, Firecracker PGF Showcase Invitational, Scenic City Showcase Invitational, Stingrays Showcase Invitational, Atlanta Legacy Showcase Invitational and ASA/USA ?A? Nationals or PGF. It was imperative for them to be in these events so that they could be prepared to play the schedule this team will be playing in 2017/2018. Unfortunately, due to various reasons and fit several players will not be invited back to tryout for this team. We wish them and their families nothing but the very best in all of their future fastpitch endeavors! These vacancies are allowing us to open up multiple opportunities to players that fit our criteria. Any player that wishes to be considered for a tryout on this team MUST be verballed/signed or actively be seeking to verbal or sign to play in college by playing on this team. We will seriously consider any '01, '02 or '03 players with the ability and who are seeking to play collegiately. Nobody has been guaranteed a spot on this team...we will select the best 11-12 players that "GET IT"...PERIOD!
Our 2016 team was 12 strong and 10 have already gone on to make their HS Varsity squads as Freshman?the other two are incoming Freshman who we fully expect will make their HS Varsity squads this season. In each of our last five seasons this team has qualified for and played in the ASA "A" Nationals (10U, 11U, 12U, 13U and 14U). Their 2016 summer schedule consisted of One ASA "A" ENQ (Firefighters Memorial), four ASA/USA "A" NQ's (Dayton Metro, QCUQ, Heatin It Up and Fire In The Sky which hosted 108 14U teams in 2016), a week long ASA softball vacation event (YSN KY) and PGF College Showcase Invitationals (Stars and Stripes and Chicago Classic IL). We played against teams representing Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Minnesota, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and Toronto Canada. The coach is heading into his 21st season coaching and developing elite fastpitch players. His seasoned staff of coaches include former collegiate players and varsity coaches. The coaches on this team go the extra mile by attending the best coaching clinics available. This very special team will be comprised of a group of committed players, parents and coaches that are dedicated to seeing every player achieve their goals...noNe dividEd and One uNited!!!
TENTATIVE SCHEDULE FOR 2017/2018:
Fall tournaments and Showcase Invitationals, College light the fire event, Indoor tournaments/camps, Indoor winter workouts, Individual Showcase Events. We have ALWAYS played a very competitive summer schedule. This years schedule will include ASA/USA A National Qualifiers/State tournaments, PGF/ASA College Showcase Invitationals (Top 50, Outlaws, Scenic City, Firecracker, Stingrays, Atlanta Legacy, Sparks etc.) and each season it is our goal to qualify for and WIN an ASA/USA "A" National Championship so that will be our goal again in 2018 and we may consider PGF National Championships as well.
16U CINCY STATIC NEON TEAM NEEDS 2017/2018: We will consider ALL positions...playing time is earned!!!
PITCHER= We will consider a strong pitcher/position player...must have great control and good command of multiple pitches.
CATCHER= We will consider a strong catcher/position player...must have a strong bat.
MIDDLE INFIELD= We will consider a strong middle infielder with speed...slapper or power would be a plus.
CORNERS= We will consider a strong corners player...preferably 1st base...must have strong bat.
OUTFIELD= We will consider a strong, speedy outfielder/utility...slapper or power would be a plus
Any player who intends to tryout for our team must possess the three A's...ATTITUDE (a good one...lol), ACADEMICS (good grades) and Athleticism (talent). She and her family MUST be committed to this sport above all others with the long term goal of playing at the next level...COLLEGE!!! DISTANCE is not an issue...as long as you can make a long Sunday afternoon practice, are self motivated enough to do your work at home during the week and can make all tournaments we will consider you. We currently have several players traveling considerable distances to be a part of this team. If you are from OH, IN, KY, IL, TN, MI or frankly anywhere and !
MISSION STATEMENT:
Our goal is to not only continue to develop stellar athletes who go on to play at the next level but more importantly to develop quality human beings and productive citizens who value honesty, loyalty and integrity. Many important life lessons are learned through competition and "competition breeds success"! We stress the importance of our players possessing what we call "the three A's", ATTITUDE(a good one), ACADEMICS(good grades)and ATHLETICISM (talent)! These three attributes are required in a player that seeks to garner a collegiate scholarship. Ultimately it is our goal to help these ladies in their efforts to receive a great collegiate education while playing the sport they love!
Three of the basic ingredients in a successful team is strong pitching, great defense and timely hitting with an emphasis on fundamentals, development and a belief in our organizations motto: "Successful Teams Achieve Through Individual Commitment"
COST: $750-$1000 after sponsor monies
We have been fortunate over the years to have sponsorship money contributed to our team to keep playing costs to a minimum. Without any sponsorship monies the cost would be approximately $1200-$1600 per player. the cost in 2013 was $550 per player after sponsor credits of $400 per player. In 2014 the cost was $600 per player after sponsor credits of $400 per player. In 2015 we did not have the same level of sponsorship money contributions but still kept fees to $800. In 2016 we were able to keep fees at $800 after sponsor credits.
