Vegas has just built a new 12 diamond complex for the Junior Olympic program. They also host several large college showcase events during the year.

Vegas in July!!!! No thanks. Why would ASA put their premier event in the desert in the middle of summer when you are 7 feet from the surface of the sun. I hope you enjoy the 115 degree games. I don't want to hear, "It's ASA" either. Vegas in July??? I'm not even sure that is safe.

I`m with ya on that! As Charlie Brown would say........"Good Grief"

I do like the 10u at Johnson City Tn. though. I do have another dd that will come up thru the ranks soon.

I have never been to Vegas, but I don't think it could be much hotter than Midland, TX where our Breakers played a couple of years ago. ?

Yeah, I am with you Hillbilly, Johnson City, TN sounds great, but I don't have anymore girls coming through the ranks. ? I could still go watch and enjoy, ?since it would be much less nerve wrecking without dd playing.

Yeah, but Ringer, ... it's a "dry heat". ?

Sacramento last year was absolutely stifiling at times 100-105 pretty consistently, I was in a full lather just moving from the hotel to the car at times. Three years ago, Chattanooga (NSA B) was in the mid ninties with high humidity, heat index was 115-120 at times, IIRC. Wonder which is worse, heat index (heat + humidity) of 115, or dry heat of 115. Maybe the simpler answer is that they are both just bad? Plus, that desert sun can scorch - Yeah, that could be like a broiler in the dry sun of LV.

There are some nice cooler mountain areas like Johnson City, Colorado, etc, which are nice destinations and which are more moderate, and still reachable by all areas of the map - wonder why they are not selected more, given that hottest time of year?

Our age group will be in Marietta, GA if we go to ASA. I am sure that will be both hot and very humid. At least we will have the Atl for finding some fun in down time, although it's not Vegas.

At this time, I can only tell you where the ASA National Qualifiers are scheduled to be held in Region #10 but not the dates (except the 16U which Metro Cincinnati is hosting.) ?I should have the other sites / dates some time after the 15th of this month.
2008
10U - IL
12U - KY
14U - CHI
16U - CIN June 20-22, at Rivershore
18U - IN

You can also keep an eye on the Metro Cincinnati JO web site at www.metrocincinnati-asa.com for updated tournament information.

Chuck Klein Complex - Indianapolis, IN

Regional National Qualifier

14u national tournament right here in Dayton.

Clyde Brewer and Lou Desaro have worked hard to get this tournament here. This will be good for Dayton. Congratulations. These guys continue to support the game of fastpitch softball. The Kettering fields facility is a great place to play. There have been tremendous improvements made to the complex.
