I never heard what happened at the 12u site.
After everything being on schedule all day Sunday, in hot, dry weather, the clouds rolled in just before 3:00 and lightning suspended the lone game being played. About 15 minutes later, the storm hit- hard.
That downpour lasted about a half hour. Sky was black, lot's of lightning, so windy it was raining sideways and rocking my car as I waited out the storm.
Once that blew through, the sun was shining again! The work and effort the Gahanna folks put into getting the field back in shape was amazing. They pulled out every trick in the book (but no helicopters
). Squeeges, leaf blowers, diamond dry, rakes and dragging the field with a quad had the field in nice shape in about an hour.
The suspended game resumed and finished. The next game started an I stuck around to watch some of it before heading home. About a half hour later, scattered thunderstorm number two hit and I have to assume that washed out the last couple of games.
