Eric Troutman and crew did an outstanding job running the tournament and prepping fields this weekend at Gahanna MS West. Valiant effort was made in saving the final games after torrential downpour but another storm delivered the knock-out punch.

It was a pleasure playing and hanging out with Jay Broyles and coaches from Central Ohio Ice and Rick Ferguson and coaches from the Marion Merchants. You guys are first class all the way. Good luck the rest of your seasons!

I never heard what happened at the 12u site.

After everything being on schedule all day Sunday, in hot, dry weather, the clouds rolled in just before 3:00 and lightning suspended the lone game being played. About 15 minutes later, the storm hit- hard.

That downpour lasted about a half hour. Sky was black, lot's of lightning, so windy it was raining sideways and rocking my car as I waited out the storm.

Once that blew through, the sun was shining again! The work and effort the Gahanna folks put into getting the field back in shape was amazing. They pulled out every trick in the book (but no helicopters :D ). Squeeges, leaf blowers, diamond dry, rakes and dragging the field with a quad had the field in nice shape in about an hour.

The suspended game resumed and finished. The next game started an I stuck around to watch some of it before heading home. About a half hour later, scattered thunderstorm number two hit and I have to assume that washed out the last couple of games.

I would like to first start out by thanking Jim Soma and The Gahanna orginazation for putting on a great 12U tourney! They faught the rain on friday got us up and playing. The Central Ohio Lady Vipers 12U took second place along with the Ohio Dragons. We battled back on sunday in the losers bracket from 8:00 am till 7:15 pm. We played 5 games winning all to only come up short in the game due to weather. We were beating the Dragons 3-0 bottom of 4 two outs and 7 minutes to play. Our girls played great all daycould not be more proud of them and we only played with 9 players all weekend. I think we would have given the MOV Fury a run for there money in the final game. We were playing that good!!!!

The Vipers finished the game with the Xtream, and went on to the Dragons. Our girls started at 8 in the morning and didnt give up untill mother nature came in. we were leading the dragons 3-0 in the bottom of the 4th. MOV was waiting to play us next but they had to call it. Too much lightning. Gahanna did a great job working the fields, and keeping the tourney running. We would have loved to keep playing, our girls had a ton of fight left in them.

Vipers over Hilliard Cats 9-1 pool
Vipers over Dellaware Fillies 3-0 pool

Vipers over CO Ice 9-4 Sat
Xtream over Vipers 7-3 Sat

Vipers over Hawks 9-0 Sunday
Vipers over CO Ice 3-2 Sunday
Vipers over Gahanna 12-6 Sunday
Vipers over Xtream 7-2 Sunday
Vipers leading Dragons 3-0 in the bottom of 4 when rain came in.

MOV gets the win by winning the winners bracket, and the Vipers and Dragons split 2nd.
You know what Hayes said about a tie....... Hats off to Gahanna for a great run weekend.

Rick, unfortunately will didn't get to play the Championship but in classy fashion, Jay (Ice) accepted the second place trophy only due to the fact that we beat them earlier. I really enjoyed the girls dancing and having fun. That's what it's about. Classy bunch of teams and coaches.
