RVBFY CLUB SOFTBALL LEAGUE 2013
We welcome 6th, 7th, and 8th grade girls to participate. We offer two divisions for an even split of skill level and competition: Varsity and JV. Any participating school is welcome to put one or more teams in the league but must consist of girls from the same participating school. Please be sure to indicate which division your team should play in with your registration. Final determination will be made by RVBFY.
We will be using OHSAA rules and pitch from 40?. Team practice for all players can begin on February 25, 2013. The season will begin with our first games on April 2, 2013, and continue for five weeks ending May 4, 2013. Our goal is to complete a 15 game schedule. All games will be played at the RVBFY complex.The schedule should provide two week night games and double headers on three Saturdays. Most week night games will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Scheduled Saturdays will be April 6th, April 20th, and April 27th. Makeup games due to rain are difficult to reschedule but will be attempted either April 13th or May 4th. Week night game time is 5:30 pm and Saturdays at 11:00 am, 12:30 pm and 2:00 pm.
This year we request that all conflicts with a Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday schedule be relayed in advance so we can try schedule around them. Tuesday Thursday conflicts could see a Monday or Wednesday game. And Saturday conflicts can move to April 13th or May 4th. A preliminary schedule will be published by March 15th and the FINAL schedule by March 20th. Once the schedule is set, no changes will be made for team or player conflicts.The Team fee will be $175.00 and is due by March 2, 2013. Team fees include field preparation and lining of the fields, and the scheduling the umpires. Both teams will evenly split the umpire fee at each game ($20.00 per team = $40 per game to umpire). Each team is to provide six new OHSAA official game balls prior to the season starting. Each team is also responsible for their uniforms. A unique number on the back of each matching shirt is required. Team insurance is mandatory.
We welcome the first 18-20 teams to the league. Please register your team and coach now (without a complete roster) to reserve your place in the league. Register by completing the top of the Registration Form and returning it by e-mail or mail with the league fees.
The registration deadline is Saturday, March 2, 2013. Team information, schedule conflicts, fees, Varsity/JV designation and a preliminary roster is due that day. There will be a coaches meeting that day at 12:30 pm at the River Valley Middle School commons area. We will finalize league rules and discuss conduct expectations for players, coaches, officials, and fans. Final roster and game balls are due before play on April 2, 2013.
