Copley defeats Hoban 7-5 in 17 innings. WP - Wallace. LP - McNeil.

Both teams had chances to win. Both teams made mistakes. It was like the Frazier/Ali Fights.

Oh and Tallmadge took out Walsh 10-0 in 5 innings.

Copley vs. Tallmadge for the Div II District Championship on 5/21/09.

Chalk one up for the Public Schools!!!!

That Copley game was incredible. Walsh pretty much self-destructed, but Tallmadge did look pretty good, too. We got our $6.00 worth and more. Cuy. Falls and Hudson ppd 'til tomorrow due to the marathon game.

Amazing that it was just one battery per team for 17 innings --Hoban veterans vs. Copley freshmen. But it was team play for the Indians. Congratulations ladies!

Classic in length only....

Not going to win many games making that many errors. 6 "official" in the book for Hoban and it might have been more.

Sloppy sloppy game by both. Gonna have to clean it up to have any chance to stay in the game with Tallmadge

looks like the Summit County Suburban League is gaining some greatly deserved respect. Too bad the Beacon Journal shows so much partiality towards the parochials in their coverage/pictures.

Agree that it wasn't a perfect game (or the equivalent of 2+ games.) Copley's 3 errors were earlier in the game, while Hoban's caused them damage in the 17th. I think somewhere in those 17 innings both teams played error free for at least 7 and played shut out ball for 10 innings each. Great effort by both teams in the endurance contest.

COPLEY 7, ARCHBISHOP HOBAN 5 (17)
Copley 020 021 000 000 000 02 ? 7 11 3
Hoban 003 010 100 000 000 00 ? 5 11 6
Batteries?Cop.: Wallace and Fish. AH: McNeil and Rice. W?Wallace, 15-4. L?McNeil, 17-2-1. Save?None. HR-AH: Rice. Records: Copley 22-4; Hoban 22-3-1.

Notes?Cop.: Wallace 14 strikeouts; Sarnicki 3 singles, 2 RBI, run; Arnold RBI single; Hose 3 singles, run. AH: McNeil 22 strikeouts; Rice three-run home run; J. Gironda 2 singles, RBI; F. Gironda 2 singles; Fisher 2 singles; Evans 3 singles, 2 runs.

No question Tallmadge will be tough. Copley is looking forward to the challenge.:yahoo:

Congrats to Copley on such a great "break-out" season! Congrats to the seniors for finishing up so well. With so many young, talented, poised players, future looks bright. Good luck down the road to the Indians, and Mr. McCoy!

Signed,
Your Hudson Peeps

Thanks Pickledad!

BTW, just when I thought I was getting my voice back following back to back nights at Firestone, Pickle headed out to right field...GREAT to see her play last night! Hugs galore following the game...had to physically force our crew out so that your crew could receive their much deserved awards!
Congrats!

Thanks from our family, too, Pickledad.
Congratulations to Coach Brown and his players and family. I was emotionally drained but seeing #15 go into play woke me up. Keep it going Hudson friends. Rumor is that next year we may be in same division.

All-4-thegirls & Immamom,

First thanks for sticking around, along with Coachdad, means a lot ... and many great memories from travel together in the past still paying dividends in the form of frindships. So happy to see all of these young ladies getting experience so early, accomplishing things, having the time of their lives! Nothing like seeing each other in different uniforms though, and STILL feeling like team mates. Even miss that obnoxious Coachdad (;)) yelling at them for messing up the little things, lol.

I keep hearing this rumor about realignment, not sure what to think about it?? It would be bittersweet fun though, and the epitome of sisters fighting, lol. ..... Bring it! :D

Congrats again! Big fan of what is going on over in Copley, and with a great guy to lead it. Couldn't happen to a better group of folks, who have worked so hard together building towards success. Keep it going next year!
