Alternative to the Huddle

OFC is the best softball forum in Ohio. Many of us also used to enjoy the Huddle softball forum until the recent technical issues which they refuse to resolve.

An alternative to the Huddle exists at Yappi Sports, http://yappi.com/. This is also a broader Ohio HS sports forum that includes softball. Any posts I made on the Huddle discussing Yappi were deleted, and the post I made questioning that kind of censorship was also deleted.

I hope the folks here at OFC will be more understanding and allow me to communicate alternatives to the frustrated softball forum community. After Joea posted the Huddle Staff's response to the reported issue, there really is no reason to stay there, IMO.

In my opinion, there is some insecurities at the Huddle.

Yappi has been a censored word over there for some time.... Of course it doesn't help when a bunch of people declare that they'll just abandon JJ and go to Yappi either. Bottom line at JJ is that if people use another board, their advertising money may follow suite.

The response of the "Staff" of the Huddle was pathetic. For them to not even know the problem exists shows that they are asleep and snoring at the wheel. I think if all of us softball people are going to go to Yappi (in addition to staying here on OFC), we need to coordinate it somehow so that we go en masse on the same day. I knew once JJ himself sold the Huddle that it would head downhill, and that has definitely happened.

Below is the e-mail I sent to the Huddle, per alwaysafan's curt admonition to all of us.

"I was wondering whether there is any plan to fix the problem where threads automatically go to a different page after a post? I've been on the Huddle since near the beginning and this is probably the worst and biggest problem I've seen on the Huddle. The moderator, alwaysafan, tells us the problem is not "fixable". That is beyond belief."

"We are not sure what you are talking about. When someone posts on a thread, it gets bumped up to the top of the discussion forum. That is normal."

It almost seems that a post on the huddle will be put with the date of the top post, wich is there magazine advertisments. ?It looks like the top 2 posts (advertisments) ?are stuck on top and change places every post. Any new new post will end up with the posts for that date(10/9 or 9/8). I only looked a few times so I could be completly wrong. But if that is the case maybe the staff can remove the top posts(magizine advertisments) or have the post dates update every day so any new posts will end up in the correct place.


Whether they fix it or not I still dont think they can beat this site. The Moderators are involved and well informed, and you get the whole spectrum . Players, New Coaches, Parents, Umpires ,and the highly respected Veterans of the sport!

Yappi's a great site for softball - have been using it for a couple of years now. It's great to see that we will have new posters over there. OFC IS GREAT ALSO!!!

FYI, when I sent in my e-mail complaint to the huddlestaff, I copied page three so they could see the problem. They responded by sending me back a copy of page one saying everything looked fine to them.

I tried to register and did not have any luck, what am I missing on how to do so. I hit the register button, it ask for date of birth, I entered that and it took me nowhere??
