I'm curious as to how many days per week should pitchers throw or practice for it to be safe? During travel season we will throw 1 to 2 times a week depending what needs work, off season is 2 to 3 times a week, now h.s, season (which I have no control over) they have the pitchers throw every day which has caused injuries and mechanic issues. I know I have my feelings on this but would like some other input, thanks.

I agree with what you are saying except for school ball I don’t like everyday. Think 3 times a week is plenty. We will some times only throw once between weekend tourneys if the work load was heavy and games start Friday the following weekend.

Throwing everyday in school ball is okay if carefully monitored to keep the proper mechanics in check. The problem is most schools don't have a qualified pitching instructor on staff. Most don't have enough staff period. Outsiders cannot walk on and help due to school and OHSAA policies. This is where a parent needs to be trained to help when/where they can. A respectful talk with the staff before the season begins to get a handle on what is to be expected and communicating with staff of any issues, things your daughter may not share with them but will with you. This could go a long way to head off any health risks. I know I would appreciate the insight.

Most coaches have a heart but can be easily swayed by a big-eyed girl saying give me the ball.
