Attention High School and College Players: Summer "League" at Pick Central

Workhouse Fastpitch is going to be trying a novel idea this summer, beginning in late June. On Tuesday evenings from 6-8, we will be conducting live batting practice, or live games, depending on the turnout, at Pickerington Central HS. The idea is to get as many high level HS and college players together to play pick-up games each Tuesday evening. If we have at least 20 players, we will separate the pitchers and catchers, the position players, choose captains, and have the captains pick teams. The players will coach themselves, we will have unlimited defensive subs, bat the entire order, no bunting unless you are a slapper. In essence, a true "pick-up" game format. If we only have 12 or 13 players, we'll do live batting practice. I will have umps there, cost will be $10-15 per night/player, you have zero weekly committment to be there, but will need to notify me via email by 9:00 Saturday evening each week of your desire/intention to play. This will be a true "free-form" format, in which we will play a for a straight 2 hours, will PROBABLY keep score (does it matter in this format??), the players will coach themselves, parents will be asked to allow their daughters to play in an relaxed, highly competitive environment. I have committments from some of the area's top HS pitchers, and am looking to get some College pitchers as well.
Be advised: You must contact me prior to June 15th if you are interested at rmoziejko@att.net. It is not an open or automatic invitation to all area HS players, we will be selective. This is not intended as a REC league, and is not for the faint of heart. I have canvassed a number of the area's DI, DII, and DIII college players, and expect a good turnout from them as well as the area's larger University's players in general.
We believe this will be a great opportunity for the College players to get quality, live at-bats in over the summer, as well as defensive skill work. In addition, it would be a great time for HS players still looking to be recruited to invite prospective coaches to these informal games each Tuesday to be looked at while playing against college-level competition. I am fairly certain that we will see College coaches there this summer, as the feedback I've gotten from both players and coaches is overwhelmingly positive.
If you are a Pitcher, I am going to try and ensure that each Pitcher gets a minimum of 3-4 innings week, but will make NO guarantees. If your coach decides to make a change because the ball is leaving the yard too many times, it will be their call. In addition, ALL players should be prepared to play multiple positions, including the OF. IF you are a SS, don't anticipate playing SS for 2 hours. It won't happen. We will need quality catchers as well. Pitchers and Catchers should be at the park by 5:25 each Tuesday to get warmed up and be ready to take the mound by 6:00. I'll try and line up as many of each position each week, but I can't make sure that every pitcher has a catcher to warm-up with. That will be the sole responsibility of the Pitchers.
The primary goal of this is to give players an opportuntiy to get some quality work in, compete with and against, great competition, and have some FUN.
If you are interested, please contact Randy Moziejko at rmoziejko@att.net as soon as possible.
