I mentioned in a different thread that Stay in Softball was having Austin Wasserman in and I have received several PMs about this. So I wanted to post more information and also determine interest in adding an additional clinic.

We are having Austin Wasserman in Cleveland/Akron for two throwing clinics February 10th and 11th. The clinics are free but they are for rec level and low income/rural/inner city middle school & HS coaches. One is beginning level and the second is more advanced.

The purpose of the beginning level clinic is to give coaches tips on teaching 1st time players (or players with little experience) good throwing mechanics. It will also cover how to fix typical throwing flaws. This should be especially helpful for new coaches (parents who are volunteering to coach rec ball for the first time) or school coaches who routinely get girls who have never played before.

The second clinic is for coaches with more advanced players and will cover throwing mechanics and also building arm strength/improving throwing speed and technique. At each clinic we will have a few Stay in Softball player/volunteers to demonstrate drills that Austin is teaching and also a handful of rec players to try the drills (and hopefully make common errors that Austin can then correct).

Because of the messages I have received from travel parents looking to get time with Austin, we are considering adding a third clinic for travel players if we have enough interest to cover the additional fees. This *would not* be a free clinic. While nothing is set in stone, the 3rd clinic would potentially be 2-3 hours and cover drills in Austin's High Level Throwing book and students would get a brief 1 on 1 with Austin and a video analysis and access to his online materials. The cost would depend on how many students there are but would probably be around $150 a student (just for comparison, the high level throwing book is $100). If there is enough interest we will try to work something out (I will also try to get the best price possible- my guestimate above is based on the $250 p/p he charges a travel team of 15 or less).

If you are a rec or school coach (or a rec leage director, etc.) and are interested in the coaching clinics you can e mail stay in softball at stayinsoftball@gmail.com for more information

If you are potentially interested in the 3rd clinic for travel players please PM me through this site.
