Abigail Renee Akers is the daughter of Rodney and Jessica (Leber) Akers, of Willard, Ohio. Abby was born with a rare liver disease called biliary atresia. She had surgery in January to help fix the problem, but it was unsuccessful. She is on the waiting list for a liver transplant. Her parents are staying across from the hospital as she remains in the hospital care while she awaits a liver donation. All of us involved in running the tournament have never met this little girl, but we wanted to give something!

Tournament: We will run both age groups at the Norwalk Park. We have (4) fields available. We will follow ASA rules. Umpires will be provided as will softballs. We will have waiver forms for coaches to have completed before play begins in each division. Saturday?s games will be Pool Play. We expect 20 teams in each age bracket. We will have (4) brackets of (5) teams. We will take the top (3) teams from each bracket for tournament play on Sunday. Tie breaker will be played Satuday night if needed.
Cost: $250 per team...this is great cause!

Food: We will have food, drinks and candy available at the concession stands. All proceeds from concessions will also go for Abby and her family.
Other Booths for apparel with 25% of donations going to Abby.

I WISH OUR TEAM COULD PARTICIPATE! Transplants are a glorious thing and I hope she doesn't have to wait long to receive her new liver. My dad had a lung transplant on May 27, 2010 and they are very very very very expensive. The medications alone after are outrageous. His one med alone is 2500.00 a month for anti-rejection. ( and he takes about 60 pills a day) So any little bit this family receives be a blessing..... Is there a address where I could send a check?
