Capital softball Summer Clinics
Join Capital University Softball at The Batter?s Box for three different clinics broken down into Hitting, Slap Hitting and Bunting, Defense and Throwing on Monday August 5^th and a specialized catching clinic on Wednesday August 7^th (Catching equipment is not included and each camper is expected to provide their own. A Glove, Bat and Helmet are expected in the other applicable clinics). The clinics will be ran by Capital University Head Softball Coach, Nan Payne and Assistant coach Andrea Klingle.


Nanette ?Nan? Payne was recognized as the 2002 and 2013 Ohio Athletic Conference Softball Coach of the Year and the 2002 Regional Coaching Staff of the Year. Payne and the Crusaders proved their elite status in 2013, winning the OAC regular season championship, earning the No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament Angola (Ind.) Regional and setting a school record with 35 victories. Capital also hosted the OAC Tournament for the first time in school history. She just finished her 15th season as head softball coach at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, and posted her 300th career win in March 2011. In her career as the winningest softball coach in school history, the Crusaders have posted a 375-230-3 record. In 2002, Nan led the Crusaders to a conference championship and an NCAA berth for only the third time in school history. In 2003, the Crusaders tied their second highest mark for wins in a season at 27. Prior to becoming the head coach at Capital, Nan served as an assistant
coach at Buffalo State College for six seasons. As a player, Nan was a four-year starter for the University of Michigan softball team. She also was a Dayton Daily News All Metro Player from Northmont High School.


Andrea Klingle has been an assistant coach at Capital since 2007. The former Crusader played for Coach Payne during the 2006 and 2007 seasons after transferring from Clark State Community College. Klingle's playing career at Capital was highlighted in her senior season when she started 24 games and scored 12 runs. The Crusaders were 25-17 that season and fourth in the OAC standings with a 13-5 record. Her career at CU was preceded by a two year stint at Clark State where she was recognized as an All-Region player on CSCC's 2005 squad that advanced to the NJCAA National Tournament.

Girls ages 9-18 years old

Fundamental instruction on Hitting, Bunting, Slap Hitting, Fielding, Throwing, Catching and more!


When:
Hitting/Bunting will be August 5th 9am-Noon
Defense/Throwing will be August 5th 2pm-5pm
Catching will be August 7th from 9am-Noon

Why:
The clinics will display and teach the basic fundamentals of fastpitch softball, specifically the skills and techniques concerned with hitting, bunting, catching and defense.


Cost:
$50 per child


Extra info:
For campers that are attending both Clinics on August 5th a Lunch deal will be provided for campers at a special rate. Campers are also welcome to bring a lunch if they want or can leave and return for the later session.
