What is the best way to time a catcher’s pop up time? And what is the expected time for 16u?

HS Age is under 2.0...1.7 is elite....

The best way and the way we do it at NFCA camps is glove to glove. (See NFCA video).

If you go to one of these camps there are a variety of drills with the catching position you can practice prior to attending check out the link. https://nfcaevents.org/nfca-camps/index.php

A little off the pop time topic but...I have seen especially at the HS level catchers never get game reps throwing to the bases or on plays and it hampers their ball delivery time.

Unfortunately some coaches do not allow their catchers to throw to the bags or the only bag they throw too is second on a steal attempt.
This causes many ladies at all ages and level of play to be hesitant and afraid their mistake could cost a run instead of their thinking play could have saved a run from being scored.

IMO, Teams need to practice pick off scenarios and all players need to want to make plays or look for outs whenever they have the ball especially the catcher.
I have dozens of videos of secondary outs by the catcher on Ks, Walks, pop outs, plays at home etc. Naturally Softball IQ / game awareness is fundamental to success as well and it shows at these camps with confidence.
