Catcher's glove recommendation?

Just wanted to get some people's opinion on brand and size for a first time catcher's mitt for an 11yr old. I don't really want to be spending $200+ for a glove she won't use all the time. I just see there are several sizes and she is a on the smaller thin side so I need to find something she can manage well. I know Nokona is a awsome glove brand but she isn't a full time catcher so I don't think its worth paying that much right now when she may out grow it as she gets older but I also don't want to get her something that is junk as well.

easton makes a few good mits for under 100 bucks. My DD has gone with nakona now but used to get about a year and a half or so out of them. They are light and easy to break in, and you can usualy find them at Dicks or most othe sporting goods stores. This will give you a chance to try them on and see how they feel. I know they dont like it too much, but DD and I have been seen throwing the ball in the isle of the store.

Thank you jestineysdad. Do you remember what size was her first one? Like a 32" maybe?

Bought dd a Mizuno GSX 92 at Dick's Sporting Goods for like $70. She loves it and it's been great glove! She is 10yo by the way.

it is 34", but very easy to use and easy break in. Softball Rampage has for $59.99

Academa, Mizuno, Easton & Wilson all make decent gloves in the $60 - $80 range. I'd look at a 32". My daughter at 11 used a Mizuno GSX. Had it for 2 years. Now she uses a Worth Liberty Advance which is under $200 and a very nice glove. She is 16u.

A 32 is tight for a 12 inch ball untill they get more advanced. In the world of both my DDs as they get older and bigger their gloves get smaller.

Totally agree. At this price range all major label gloves are about the same as far as quality. Have your dd try on the mitts for comfort and let her choose her favorite.
