Central Ohio Venom – 2020 14U Team Tryout

Hello, I hope that you are having a great summer! I’m excited to announce tryouts for our 2020 travel softball team (14U for next summer). We plan to coach this group of teammates for several upcoming summers through 16U.
This team will a provide a different experience than ANY OTHER Central Ohio advanced softball program!
- Coaches teaching advanced skills, including performance, strategy, sportsmanship and teamwork
- Strong competition in established tournaments and leagues
- Minimal travel with ALL games in the Central Ohio area
- Manageable schedule with OPEN weekends built into the season schedule
- Focused on one group of teammates, encouraging bonding and life-long friendships
- Players and parents sharing core values of effort, attitude and character
Softball is a passion of our family. Our coaching staff brings over 32 seasons of playing experience, many developed player success stories and numerous championships, awards and accolades. Coaching our players and sharing our love for the game is special to us. We want to help our players develop their softball AND life skills.
The Season.
Our season will start with 3-4 preseason games in late May/ early June. From mid-June through late Aug/early Sept will play in 7-8 Central Ohio tournaments (reduced travel time and expense). We expect to play 30-40 tournament and/or league (Mannino’s, Berliner) games total. Example:
- 3-4 Preseason games – Westerville (late May/early June)
- Westerville (June 12-14)
- New Albany Classic (June 26-28)
- Upper Arlington / Lancaster Shootout (July 3-5)
- Wellston Summer Smash (July 10-12)
- Pickerington Grand Finale/ Mount Vernon Dixie Days (July 17-19)
- Pickerington Fireworks (July 24-26)
- Dayton U.S. Open / Beaver Creek Party to the Creek (July 31-August 2)
- Westerville (August 14-16 or 21-22)
The Off-Season.
Players are welcome to join in informal conditioning activities from fall to early winter. Our first official team practice will be in late January. Between February and May, we will gradually increase practice from 1 to 3 times a month.
The Investment.
Player fee will be ~$725 for the season. $200 paid in Aug, the remainder in Oct.
This fee will be used for tournament entry fees, uniforms, fields, equipment, team insurance and many other costs that may come up throughout the season. The team will acquire sponsors to reduce player fees or enhance the program.
