First off I have coached at all levels except college for 20 years. Went and watched a first year 12u game today. I say a coach call time after a defensive play. Opposing team had runner on 2nd. Girl steals catcher throws to 3rd. Ball gets by 3b and runner scores. Coach calls time. He goes out and berates, finger points and overall chews out the girl.
My problem. Younger coaches please learn how to properly teach, instruct or correct without embarrassing a KID! When you do this to a young girl you zap her love of the game. Trust me I’m as hard on my kids as anyone. I just try to do it in a different manner.
