Can a college player who's completed her freshman year, who's still age eligable, play 18u travel ball?

There was some discussion at the ASA meeting as to whether to force them to play up, but it was voted down; so for now 18U is just age based.

Sometimes showcase tournaments or world series tournaments from sanctioning bodies other than ASA will have a rule that college players can't participate. Application (or lack thereof) of such a rule has led to some controversies.

The DD did this the past season, there are some tournaments she wasnt allowed to participate in, which in fact factored in on the travel team she had played with before not bringing her back.

I believe they are not allowed to play in college showcase tournaments. We had a player that had to sit out at CompuWare. The college coaches do not want to have their eyes on a player that is already committed to a college team.

That is what a profile form is for. It is handed out to every college coach, and each team proudly displays their own also.

actually at some "college showcases" where "teams" are showing and not individual players doing the showcase- the players are marked by bracelets - college players or signed players in thier senior year usually wear black to show they are taken already - unsigned seniors green, juniors yellow - like that, so the coaches can still see them and know not to waste thier time on a players wearing a black bracelets.
