College Visits

DD has been to Kent and Akron quite a bit for softball camps and games so she already ruled out being a little number in a huge community and really didn't want to turn softball into a job. She likes being known, appreciated, and having fun so she now knows that D3 is will suit her well after having her first D3 college visit yesterday. Her major will limit the number of D3 choices but that is probably okay, sometimes too many choices creates indecision. More importantly, DD is recharged and talking about D3 ball as an attainable goal after watching a game. She had great conversations with the coach and admissions department, asked lots of intelligent questions of the coach and some of the players, is thrilled with the training schedule and flexibility of the coach and faculty, playing time is dictated by being the best and not by seniority so freshmen and sophomores play a lot. She is looking forward to going back in the fall for an overnight visit. VERY HAPPY MOM!

That is what it is all about right there!!! It is not about the parents wants and dreams it is about their daughters wants and dreams. I wish you all the best of luck. Sounds like your daughter is ahead of the game a little bit and knows what she wants. Congratulations

My DD is very very happy with her choice. She will be going to BW this fall. She is excited about the programs - softball and business! :) I hope your DD enjoys her college visits, I know we did.

My oldest DD made a very similar decision but for "the other sport." lol She heard from a friend that actually had to change majors at a D1 school or lose her scholarship because of scheduling conflicts. When it all comes down to it....it is about the academics with a side of sports. They are called student athletes, not athletic scholars, so the academics should come first. D3 schools are terrific when it comes to academics and small class size. My DD will go to Mount Union in the fall and couldn't be happier with her decision. Good luck to you and your DD....picking a college is a fun experience!!!
