Complimenting other team's players

My daughter made a nice running catch in center and threw a runner out at the plate. If you ask her about it she will still tell you about the opposing coach who high-fived her as she came off of the field. THAT made her day. Thanks to all coaches who recognize a great play no matter who's name is on the jersey.

This was an awesome moment. 3-1 count runner on second 1 out. Runner on second trys to steal 3rd, ball 4. thirdbase is up (the batter showed bunt) shortstop is breaking toward 3rd to cover. catcher makes throw to shortstop right before thirdbase. throw is low and it sounds like the ball hits plastic (maybe the runners helmet). the shortstop collapses on the runner and somehow comes up with the ball in her glove and the runner is called out at third. Meanwhile back at the ranch the secondbaseman broke toward first to cover on the bunt. The girl who walked on ball four hustled down to first, the first base coach seeing nobody was covering second sent his runner to second. The shortstop (now laying at third base) sees the batter runner round first and head to second, the shortstop gets up and looks to throw to second, she notices nobody is covering second. She immediately breaks from being on the ground at third (after an unbelievable play) toward second base. It is a foot race, the batter runner, and the shortstop both dive toward second base. The shortstop tags the runner inches infront of second base. Unbelievable Play. The shortstop gets up and runs to her firstbase dugout because it is 3 outs. The first base coach of the batting team (has his hands on his head, he can not believe what he just saw) initially hold his hand up to give the shortstop a high five or fist bump as she is leaving the field, but as the shortstop comes closer he, not knowing how to react, just hugs her, (basically saying unbelievable play)! Two great teams playing the kind of game we all love to watch. Great moment!

Hey, Steve. Hannah got her stats from her team's fall and winter tournament games. She's hitting .400, and leading the pitchers in Ks and best K-BB ratio.

This game is all about the kids. Life has so many people throwing negative things at them . I feel as a Father and a coach anytime I can say or do something positive I need to do it. This game and the kids that play it are our gift . Time is short. Great plays are remembered for the crucial times they happen and the comments they hear and remember after it .

Thunder's Dad, that was 18u, and it was unbelievable. The shortstop gave us many ESPN moments. Many time after her defensive wizardly some fans would chant, da, da, dant..da, da, dant. Also, You know, I never thought of it, but the shortstop and the batter runner will both be playing ar Robert Morris University together. The shortstop is there now and the batter runner will be there next year.

I don't know how I lost track of this thread. Good deal Phil. Tell her I said congrats! Serenesoftball: That is a great finish to the story as well. Glad to hear they will be continuing to make spectacular plays.

i figure we might as well, since we technically clap when our girls hit a junk grounder and it goes through for an error. so if we clap for mistakes of the other team, we might as well clap for the good plays as well.

i do catch myself going, "man, that ****s" for us, but when it's a good play, it's a good play. I will also admit that some teams no matter if she dives from the parking lot or they make a triple play, i do clap sarcastically. oh well
